My family recently spent a week at Folly Beach in South Carolina, just outside of Charleston. We are afficianadoes of Garden and Gun magazine and the most recent issue listed the Surf Bar at Folly Beach as one of the South's Top 50 Bars. So, of course, we had to pay a visit. We went at about 5:30 pm on a steamy July afternoon. The bar has an indoor section and a large and breezy outdoor covered porch. We opted for the porch. Uber casual is the tone (flip-flops may be a little too dressy) and the service was friendly and efficient. We sampled the freshly made onion rings served with a remolade type dipping sauce. Some of our party went for the draft beer and some sampled the signature drinks (Mojitos and Margaritas). I had a Mojito, actually two but whose counting, and it was great. I did not sample the house drink, the Painkiller, because I'm not a big fan of pineapple. The bar is dog-friendly and fun. One down and 49 left to go!
