“Nice place to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2010

Every time we are on the island our children want to eat here. It has good food and a good location. Restaurant is very small inside, but they do have outdoor seating. Menu has variety and they do have daily specials . Their tee-shirts are cute.

“The Meal from HELL!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2010

The title says it all. Or maybe I should state " THE PIECEMEAL MEAL FROM HELL". My wife and i visited this restaurant on Thursday before Labor Day. The food and service was great! When our daughter and her family arrived we decided to go back as this is a very casual restaurant and we had two 11 years old along. We got there(there were eight of us) and were promptly seated. The restaurant was not overly full and there were tables outside in a smaller screened in porch area along with other tables open to the elements. At this point the dining experience went as the title implies downward. Drink orders were taken and I discovered that they do not serve alcohol on Sundays. Now most other restaurants on Edisto Beach do and I was puzzled but went ahead and ordered a soft drink. Our server came back and began taking our food orders. The order was placed or so I thought. Our server came back and stated that they were out of one of the items our party had ordered (a potato gratin casserole) The orders were changed and we awaited our orders, and waited, and waited. Finally some items began to arrive but not the entire order. There would be the main entrée but no sides or sides and no entrée. This continued throughout the entire meal. At one point a whole platter of fries were delivered but nothing else. I had ordered the crab cakes and they were good but I never did receive any of my side dishes. In defense of the restaurant, the owner/manager(?) did offer me a brownie after the check had been presented and it was made known to her about my situation. Now about the check. As there was eight of us normally a gratuity of 18 percent as stated on the menu would have been added. The owner/manager(?) stated she was not adding the gratuity to the bill because of the problems we had encountered. At this point we paid but did not leave a gratuity for obvious reasons. As we were standing around outside, the owner/manager(?) confronted us and questioned our lack of a gratuity. My wife went back and out of the goodness of her heart left a gratuity. In a previous review of restaurants on Edisto Beach, it appears that none of them can handle a crowd. It will be a long time before we darken the door of this establishment!

We're long time Edisto visitors and the SeaCow is one of our favorite spots on the island. Wonderful lunches and breakfasts! Consistent, friendly food and service.

“Frozen Seafood”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2010

It's not fun to be at the beach, order seafood and get the special of the day and it's a square piece of previously frozen fish. The cucumber and tomato salad wasn't marinated in vinegar, it was swimming in it like soup. I was disappointed. And the servers seemed very bored and kind of miserable.
