My wife and I went on a weekend get-a-way and selected Wyndham Ocean Ridge in Edisto Island, South Carolina. This resort is a beautiful spot but isolated. Don’t expect to eat at McDonalds and visit a five star restaurant nearby. You might want to bring your own food if you are very picky.
However, Edisto Island Beach is a place where you can sample local cuisine. Well, it is not Charleston. Therefore, I would recommend an open mind and take some risk in local restaurants.
We woke up early Sunday morning with a desire to eat some good breakfast without driving all the way to Charleston. A customer representative from Wyndham had Sea Cow Eatery as a preferred restaurant to consider there.
We had a good sign. When you see folks coming from church service and locals eating there, you probably got a good restaurant. We weren’t disappointed.
Sea Cow Eatery is clean and friendly (see if anyone can explain what a sea cow is).
I ordered a stack of pancakes; my wife ordered a traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and a biscuit.
Well, I got there pancakes which were the size of high school discus; they weren’t small. The food was incredible and the atmosphere was great, showcasing Southern hospitality at its finest.
Finally, I would place this restaurant at the top of my list for serious eating at Edisto Island, especially for breakfast.
