Paper thin walls -hear every word, step and chair sliding across kitchen floor of neighbor units from any place in our unit. No steamer or collander in kitchen; Clean

Room Tip: Only Bayside units face beach. All other units do not face shore. Wireless access is slow.

This resort was wonderful and comfortable for our family of seven. The resort has much to offer, however most amenities are reached by car. The island is fantastic. The have many restaraunts to choose from and the shops are small and unique, not touristy. The grocery store is high in prices but friendly and have whatever you need. Charleston is only an hour away but the drive is scenic. If your looking for a laid back atmosphere and uncrowded beaches this is the place to be. Wyndham is remodeling their units here and we were lucky enough to get a newly remodeled house. We had a 4 bedroom unit which is a free-standing house.

Room Tip: If you want a waterfront or ocean view room, you will have to specify that when making your reservat...

The resort itself was beautiful. It was well kept, and had all the ammenities you could ask for - bike trails, mini gold, heated swimming pool, bike rentals, and a lagoon with a gator.

The unit, however, was not up to par. It was very outdated, and had some minor maintenance problems - carpet stains, the pocket door to the hallway bathroom wouldn't shut completely, some of the curtains were missing the rods that help open and shut them, the shower didn't drain well, etc. The furnishings were old, and when we commented on these things we were told that they were starting to remodel all the timeshare units and that's why they hadn't updated or fixed anything yet. The unit was clean, and well stocked with everything you'd possibly need.

Overall, I would recommend this resort, especially if they actually follow through with the remodeling. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the island that the resort is on is a treasure.

Edisto Beach on Edisto Island in South Carolina is a FABULOUS step back in time!!! You begin to relax and recoup the minute you start driving onto the island heading for Edisto Beach!!!! There are NO hotels, much less no tall beach hotels, no hectic traffic, there is no inundation of restaurants and beach shops clamoring for your business!! This is a family beach with literally mostly beach homes and only Wyndham's Ocean Ridge Resort.
Ocean Ridge is a large resort there which offers many different kinds of accommodations and activities to choose from! The units are well kept and up to Wyndham Resort standards which we are always pleased with. Most of the units are not on the beach but are contained within the resort property which is not far from their oceanside cabana. What is awesome about this resort is the location on this island and the MYRIAD of super fun things to do while you are there!!! Our favorite things to do are renting bikes for the week and riding everywhere (very easy and safe), dolphin watching which is possible almost 24/7 from Bay Point, exploring the island (VERY interesting history of island) and touring old plantation sites, kayaking in the bay and in creeks heading towards the ocean, riding down Botany Bay road (has to be one of the most beautiful roads in America), visiting Charleston which is only 30 minutes away, taking picnics out on the sound side and watching the dolphins playing and the breathtaking sunsets, shelling on the beach beside Edisto Beach State Park property. My husband always plays golf; there is free miniature golf and several pools too on the property. There is only one grocery store on the island - how is that for an indication of the lack of commercialism? There are some very good restaurants and fish markets to buy your own fish to cook and enjoy! We are NEVER ready to leave and ALWAYS feel rejuvenated from being there!!!!! We take family there, we take friends there. We sometimes go alone!!!! It is truly WONDERFUL!!!! We have 2 trips planned there in 2012 - one in the fall and one in the spring!!!

Our first trip to Wyndham Ocean Ridge was in 2004 and we had no intentions of hooking up with a time share. After four days at Marsh Point, we were hooked and bought into Fairfield Resorts (now Wyndham). We were finally able to make it back to SC this year and while the units had aged, we only had minor inconveniences that were readily fixed after a call to Guest Services.

We have children and knew they would LOVE the fast paced atmosphere of a "spring break town" but we chose to show them the other side of vacationing and they absolutely fell in love with Edisto Beach! There will be family members visiting Ocean Ridge for many decades to come.

Oh - and in regards to the lighting issues in the late summer/early fall months - the island cannot have any exterior lighting at night because it confuses the hatching loggerhead turtles. We haven't been there for this wonderful event - yet!

Room Tip: Marsh Point has the outdoor year-round pool and is being/has been remodeled.

We stayed here 10/15 thru 10/22. Contrary to other reviews we found this place to be great.Staff was excellent, unit was excellent, like new.Golf was great, restaurants were fine, piggly wiggly has about anything you need and prices reasonable.Good ice cream at Subway. The island is a laid back area, if you want to tour Charleston and its sites you will need about 1&1/2 hrs.to travel there. We suggest at least 1 day there because there is so much to see and do.lots of history.Highly recommend
this place.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms better ask for recently renovated

Resort reviews were mixed so we were a little worried but the room was new and spotlessly clean. We're coming here again! Island is not commercialized so dining choices are limited. Be prepared to cook. Island mottos are don't tell your friends and we're not Myrtle Beach. Be sure to stop by the Edisto Bookstore. Nice to see a successful independent bookstore and it has a small used book section for economical vacation reading.

Room Tip: We liked the Villas which was a smaller complex close to the pool and the marsh.
