We always end our visits to Columbia with a trip to a special restaurant. This was our first visit to Cellar on the Greene, but it won't be our last! Our three generations of diners loved the atmosphere and the food at this great little spot. We all ordered the three course option, for $22, with an appetizer, entree and dessert. Everyone raved about their meals and the ability to mix and match to suit each diner. Of special note was the Flat Iron steak and the Mahi Mahi. Both were excellent. The favourite dessert was seared pound cake, followed closely by the peanut butter pie. Serving sizes were appropriate and we ate every bite. We also really enjoyed ordering a wine flight each, which consisted of three different featured wines, 2.5 ounces each. What a wonderful way to try new wines and discover some new favourites! The service was attentive and informative. It was nice to see that any server passing our table would clear empty dishes and check to see if everything was going well. My only complain, and it is a minor one, is that the music was quite loud. Two members of our group were quite elderly and had a bit of trouble hearing all the conversation. This being said, our server did turn down the music slightly when asked. This was wonderful, southern hospitality, paired with great food. Thanks Cellar staff. We'll see you again on our next trip south.
