We recently made a return visit to the State Museum. It's been a few years since our last visit. The first observation is currently there are ongoing renovations including a new digital dome theatre, observatory, 4-D theater and telescope gallery. which we're excited about. So having said that, you will enjoy the museum, but just overlook the mess. It is a most interesting way to learn about the many aspects of life and history of South Carolina. We enjoyed the King Tut exhibit. The downside is there are limited staff on Saturdays, which seems odd to me. Anyway, as we were needing information re: membership. the lady who we spoke to couldn't really answer our questions and directed us to go to the other side, to speak with staff there, but there was no one there. So we went back over to the lady, told her this and she said to just purchase our tickets and check back later with other staff re: our questions, etc. So that's what we did. But unfortunately, though we checked several time that day, never found anyone there. A few days later, I did receive a phone call from the museum manager apologizing for the problem and answering my questions. I believe it would be most beneficial to have ample staff on the weekends for a museum of this size. Having said this, we did join, and look forward to a return visit soon.
