“Hotel shuttle takes you to Downtown & Market area - free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2011

Known as the "Hairroller" by residents.......We stayed here for a reunion and had an exceptional time. Two choices of pillows hard or soft...two choices of mattress hard or soft in double bed rooms... Staff was very willing to help.

Shuttle takes you down to Market Street and three other drop off places, so you don't have to drive. Takes 5 mintutes to get there. Free shuttle and parking

The breakfast buffet - I would skip ( it was included in our room price). Every day the same thing and it was not hot. Great views of city and bridge from restaurant though.
Have a drink !! ! !!! !

My husband and I stayed here before and after a cruise from Charleston in October, 2011. We were both pleased with the cleanliness of the facility. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Having a shuttle to take us to and from town was fantastic! We were saved the hassle of driving in heavy traffic and trying to find a parking place. I will definitely stay here again when I'm back in the area.

Stayed for 2 nights in Sep 11. First impressions were good, the staff at the front desk were very helpful and made us feel welcome, while telling us everything we needed to know. I requested a room on a high floor and was given the 11th floor. Room was nicely decorated and quite big, air conditioning worked well. Free wifi and parking were a big plus. The free shuttle bus is brilliant particularily for heading into town at night. The location is a little bit out from the centre but a cab ride back was only 7 dollars. Everything went well, would be happy to stay again, recommended!!

TIP: Dont pay over the odds for taxi fares, most firms here are ok for price, but some are chancers! One guy tried to overcharge us by a big amount but i wasnt having it.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor!!

We stayed here for 4 nights recently. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Breakfast buffet was ok but scrambled egg was not hot enough. Bar has a fantastic view but is expensive. Although there is a shuttle to the centre of charleston, it only runs every 2 hours on the half hour. We found taxis to be unreliable time wise. We got a taxi from the airport costing 26 dollars for two & assumed that the 6 seater taxi we ordered to return to the airport would work out much cheaper for the group but we were charged 12dollars each! front desk staff were very helpful & answered any queries we had. If I was visiting charleston again I would strongly consider staying nearer town.

We recently stayed here for our honeymoon and had a king room, river view. The view was amazing the room was clean and everything it was described to be. The staff was friendly and helpful we would stay here again but would not eat at the restaurant. It was the absolute worst dining experience we have ever had. We ordered and waited over an hour for our food and they were not busy maybe a handful of tables. When the food arrived it was so awful we could not eat any of it and they were way over priced for the quality. The only thing we enjoyed was the drinks. However the manager was really understanding and we ended up not paying for it but do not waste your time. Oh and the wait staff was so poorly dressed and they all looked extremely sloppy not what you would expect.

We stopped here on the way back from Florida on a road trip for one night. We had decided the next morning we were going to see the USS Yorktown over at Patriot's Point and were looking for a hotel in Charleston to stop at (only 10 min from Patriot's Point). After driving through an area of town I did not feel comfortable staying in (and yes, I am judging a book by its cover) we drove past the Holiday Inn Riverview. The area looked better, and while the hotel looked older from the outside, inside had been totally renovated. The lobby looked very clean and was nicely decorated. Their rack rate was a bit high, but the AAA rate was reasonable so we decided to stay. The hotel was extremely clean, comfortable, and all staff very pleasant. It was relatively late and we had not eaten so decided to simply eat at the hotel restaurant. I was very pleasantly suprised. We ordered fairly small (soup, potato skins, sandwiches) but there were also full meals that looked very good. I was astounded at the portion sizes (HUGE)! Our waitress was very friendly. This hotel is a bit more expensive than your average "road hotel" that we usually look for, but was definitely worth the money to feel clean and secure!
