“Odd hotel, but fun stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Excellent breakfast included. The hotel was the original Citadel, so it was cool and interesting to stay here. That being said, the room was pretty small and felt like its best days were behind it. Not your typical Embassy Suites, but if you're into architecture and an experience, worth a one-night stay. The location was superb and we walked to everything!

Very good central location. The rooms were really lovely. Historic, clean, close to lots of great places. Breakfast ok. Free happy hour, spacious. Very comfortable beds, two T.V.s, tuner movie classics, important for me.

This hotel is in a great location for doing business in Charleston, or for leisure site seeing of downtown and historic districts. It is in walking distance of shopping and fine dining. Staff is very friendly and willing to assist.

Bring your own Internet connection, because theirs is incredibly slow. Other than that, it's a great place. You can walk to King St. and the rest of the Historic District. The breakfast is free and tasty. The staff that you are supposed to encounter (front desk, valet, bartenders, etc.) are very friendly and professional (avoid the maids they can't read and they have attitude problems). The rooms are clean and well kept. They have a free happy hour every day from 5:30 - 7:30 with free food too. It's next to the College of Charleston square. This is probably the best hotel in Charleston.

Room Tip: My room was on the first floor and it had a window where I could see the quad where all kinds of peo...

The farthest we had to walk to anywhere in town was .8 miles (one way). If you are a runner, it's less than 1.5 miles down to the waterfront at the battery. Great sights on the way there and back. The rooms are very nice, complimentary breakfast as well as cocktails and snacks at night plus, a very friendly staff. You may not need a car the entire time you are here but, valet parking is available. We highly recommend the Embassy Suites.

I read others reviews I dont understand negative. Very old in the middle of the historic district but nice. Rooms comfortable, clean nice! Great breakfast cooked to order. Huge park farmers type market next door. You can walk to everything. There are FREE trolleys . Restaurants all around you! The managers happy hour was nice low profile some broccolli and carrots wings or corn dog type snacks.or ribs! Drinks for 2 hours 520 pm and waited until 530. We loved every minute there and it is the place to be.

Room Tip: Go early to the happy hour around 520 pm for the 530 pm. Breakfast buffet is wonderful and if busy j...
