“All good - location, ammenities, service, cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Hotel staff was very friendly, especially the guys working breakfast, and the breakfast is as good or better than any hotel where I have stayed. The location is good - right on Marion Park - easy to walk to and see downtown Charleston. The manger's reception at happy hour was good - never saw the manager, though. My room was clean, and everything worked just fine.

Room Tip: I had the double. It was as expected, and as good as any.

“Good location and beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

This hotel while not in the 'middle of everything historic' is very close to it and within walking distance. A lot of history with it being the Citadel. The area feels very safe and it is a great place to launch from for your visit to Charleston. Breakfast are up to the usual high standards of Embassy Suites and the Managers Reception is always a nice touch. The staff were excellent. The only unfortunate thing was having a family of uncontrolled kids stomping around for hours above us that was not too pleasant - that however is not the hotels fault. The inside is very beautiful and you feel that you have stayed in somewhere out of the ordinary.

“A must for History Buffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

This is a beautiful hotel, previously used as the dorms for The Citadel. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Location is really nice, easy to get to the trolly and Visitor's Center. Managers cocktail hour was very nice.

Room Tip: Room 300 was right off the elevator but was really set up for a small business meeting with conferen...

“Amazing Location, Historic, Market Day, and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is an amazing site, historical landmark, the old Citadel. The impression of old Charleston greets you from the large plantation doors, amazing wood plank floors, the cockatoos, the indoor waterfalls, and the fabulously gracious attention by the young enthusiastic staff, makes this location a great place to stay. This site is conveniently located one block from the Visitor Center, across the street from the FREE trolley, and blocks from all the historical charm of daytime activities and the fun, brisk, youthful, evening restaurants and nightlife that Charleston offers. We literally parked our car and settled into exploring the beauty and charm of the area.

The people are really gracious and sweet. They live off the tourism and they all seem to thrive on making customer service their key priority. The rooms are spacious and quaint. The lighting is acceptable and the bathrooms modern but tight. Excellent breakfast prepared by your own chef, with staff making your stay a priority to their day. Really, they get to know who you are and seem to want to make you feel welcomed. The bed was fantastic, as good as home.

The only complaint I have is to use caution when dealing with your debit credit card. Choose to use a standard credit card. Their computer system gets excited and seemed to charge us a total of three times. Needless to say, it was an inconvenience to have to deal with the front desk manager during their work hours, not my vacation hours. To avoid this in the future, I will not give them my debit credit card, but a standard credit card. Had we not have to deal with this issue, I would have given them an Excellent. They need to fix their charging systems is a bit overzealous. We plan to go back and can't wait to see all our friends again. Loved this Embassy Suites and all that Charleston has to offer.

“Location of this hotel is good,a short walk to King Street & next door to the Saturday Farmer's Market. Room TV was dim.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Hotel staff was very helpful. Location is good - lots to walk and see in Charleston. People were very friendly. TV in sitting room was very dim. We were told these were "energy saving" LG tv's and they were not as bright as other TV's. The breakfast was crowded but about the same as we have experienced with other Embassy Suites, especially on the weekend. Omelette's were great!!!
