I stayed at this hotel over Easter weekend on a fly-solo trip. I fully agree with the other reviews that this hotel offers great value for the money. The room is large and clean. The breakfast is fantastic! There are brand name yogurts, fresh fruits, pancakes and southern comfort foods everyday. However, the location is so great for me. It's a little far from downtown where all the attractions and restaurants are. Yes. There is a free shuttle stop just in front of the hotel. But it only comes every half hour. Worst part is that the service stops at 8:30 pm on weekdays and at 6:30 pm on Sundays. Unless you don't mind taking a cab ($10-$12), you can't really enjoy the great nightlife that downtown Charleston has to offer. I walked back to the hotel from downtown a couple of times and it took me 30-40 minutes not 20 minutes as other reviewers indicated (and I'm a jogger.) It is quite a long walk! And some areas get schetky at night but I don't recommend it.
Net Net, if you are family with kids or those who just want to come back to the hotel after an early dinner and have a good hearty breakfast every morning, this is a good hotel for you. If you are a young couple or solo traveler who wants to experience the great restaurants and bars in Charleston, you are way better off staying at a downtown hotel. There are plenty of choices! Hope this helps.
