When we visit historic cities, we like to take in as much charm as possible. The Inn delivered! Visiting for my husband's birthday, the staff surprised us with an upgrade. WHAT AN UPGRADE. Our "room" was a one bedroom suite larger than my apartment in college.
We were first impressed with the lobby. The exposed beams are breathtaking. Lovely local art is beautifully framed and on virtually every wall. Furnishings and accessories are eclectic and amusing. And, as with an older building, lots of nooks and crannies to explore, including a lovely rooftop deck for incredible views of the city!
The desk staff was cheerful upon our check in. Any time we had a questions, they were more than gracious and helpful. The Inn is located near the best dining, shopping and nightlife in town. We walked to Slight North of Broad (SNOB) for dinner. See our review, it's amazing!
The wine and cheese happy hour was delicious! We indulged in warm brie and spinach dip! The happy hour was held in the same room as breakfast. A lovely, lovely room unlike the complimentary breakfast rooms found at chain hotels. I particularly loved the dozens of painted portraits of dogs displayed on the entry wall. Breakfast included so much variety including french toast sticks, bagels, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit and more. Coffee was delish and the tea was from a local plantation.
We will definitely return on our next trip to Charleston! Thanks, Ansonborough Inn, for helping me spoil my husband rotten!
