We loved this hotel and if we ever get back to Charleston we would definately stay there again. The room was large with a separate seating and kitchen area to the bed, separated by a wall. Staff were very friendly. The hotel is clean and breakfast was lovely. They also offer lemonade and iced tea in the afternoon and a cheese and wine hour in the evening. We did sample the lemonade which was excellent but did not sample the cheese and wine.

My only problem with the hotel is its location. As others have said if it had been a few blocks nearer the town centre it would have been great. But it is not, so we will have to live with that. It is also opposite a supermarket. Which is very good I might add. However, if you were on the front then you may have been bothered by the noise from lorries delivering. We were on the back so did not have that trouble.

Overall we were very satisfied with the hotel and would stay there again.

“Great location & Gorgeous - Staff needs a bit of improvement”

Ansonborough Inn

Great location & gorgeous inn. Staff was average in their helpfulness & attitude. The maid service did not clean our room while we were there - had to ask for clean towels. However, we would stay again due to room size, affordability, & convenience.

My wife and I stayed here for our 1 yr wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. The atmosphere and asthetics of the Inn were perfect. It was really cozy and super convenient. The decor was very old world and rustic- much to my liking. The staff was extremely curtious and helped us with dinner reservations each night and gave us local opinions of what to do during the days. The location was well within walking distance from just about everything. My wife and I were able to park our car upon arrival and not move it until our departure. We loved our stay so much it took us until our third day to stop mentioning to each other how happy we were with our choice to stay there. We'll definately be going back!

P.S.> The afternoon wine and cheese was great. And so was the sweet tea and lemonade set out each afternoon.

    • Liked — The feel of the Inn. Everything from the architecture to the decor to the staff
    • Disliked — The breakfast spread could use some bolstering. But, this is coming from someone who likes to eat and not have breakfast snacks

“Great hotel with a noise problem...”

I just got back from Easter weekend at the Ansonborough Inn with friends. We thought the location was great and price reasonable since it's within walking distance to downtown and includes breakfast. The staff was great, especially Immad (sp?) at the front desk. He was always smiling and very cordial.

The only drawback I could find is the NOISE! You could hear entire conversations from the next room. Coughing in the middle of the night from other rooms woke us up. I would strongly reccommend that the management try to look into soundproofing. A great room/location and staff is not worth it when you can't sleep at night.

Keep up the good work!

I stayed here with three colleagues while we were in Charleston for a conference. We all had separate rooms, each of which were exceptional. Exceptionally large rooms, some with separate sitting areas separated by stairs, or by a wall and a door. Television in both the bedroom and the sitting room. All rooms with king sized beds. Some are 4 poster antique beds! The owners took great care in creating a luxury of the past. Antiques and high quality artwork adorn the entire property. Mini refrigerators, microwaves, and sinks are in each room. I understand that this is the "low" season in Charleston, but I would still expect to pay over $200 a night based on the size of the room alone. Our reservations were $169/night. They offer a complimentary breakfast every morning, consisting of fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, etc, and offers a "happy hour" in the afternoon with complimentary wine, cheese, crackers, and various dips (request that they make the artichoke dip for a night while you're there!). If ever I make plans to go to charleston for fun, I will definately consider booking here. We're already on the books for next year's conference.
