“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the Cannonboro Inn, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in beautiful, spacious Room 4. Very comfortable room with king bed and access to the piazza. The Inn offers a delicious hot breakfast every morning and wine in the afternoon with snacks. The best thing we enjoyed is the complimentary use of the bicycles, and we loved biking around Charleston. The Inn is adjacent to MUSC, about 6 blocks from King St. There are restaurants close by--a short walk to Five Loaves and Fuel, two I would recommend.
The Inn is very tastefully decorated, cozy, and clean. All the staff was helpful and friendly. The owner was particularly knowledgable about the history of Charleston.

My son & future wife planned to be married in Charleston last September. We were so fortunate to find this B&B, they accomadated our entire family & showed us what true Southern hospitality is all about. The owner of this B&B is Barry Carroll, he has a wealth of knowledge about Charleston history and was willing to share it with us. We enjoyed a full gourmet breakfast daily with wine & cheese in the afternoon. They provided free parking & bicycles to tour the city. The rooms were charming and very clean. They even catered our Rehearsal Dinner!!!!. The food was excellent and the staff could not be more helpful. Do not miss an opportunity to stay in this B&B, it is truly a wonderful experience! The Jones Family

Room Tip: We occupied every room in this Inn and they were all GREAT!

I would NOT recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, romantic getaway. We had a number of issues while staying there. We started out in Room # 2 that was located in front of the house and the traffic noise is ridiculous. (Both Rooms #1 & #2 are in front of the house). The room was cute and the bed was comfortable, but the shower/bath was incredibly tiny that you couldn't use the toilet without partly being in the shower. We had to wait until the next night to move to Room #3 where the shower hadn't looked clean and had hair all over it. It was quieter, but you could still hear the traffic slightly. The bed in Room #3 was very hard and we could feel the springs in our backs. We read online about their great breakfast, but we were very disappointed. Banana Rum French Toast sounded fantastic, but it was very disappointing. Lastly, I got sick during the trip and we decided to leave day earlier. They charged us for the full amount as soon as we got there, and would not refund our money for the night we didn't stay. We decided to cut our losses and head home. This was very disappointing since have had great experiences at some any other B&Bs in the past!! If you are looking for a fantastic B&B, try the Black Walnut in Asheville,NC! Now that's a great B&B!

Room Tip: If you MUST stay there, stay only in Room #4. It has a larger bathroom too. Rooms in front of the...

Staying at this bed and breakfast is the best thing you can do for yourself when making a trip to Charleston. It is a short walk to the middle of historic downtown Charleston with many great restaurants and shops just around the corner. The breakfast still stands as the best breakfast I have ever tasted. It was so delicious. In the afternoons they put out very tasty appetizers and very good quality wine. If going to Charleston, staying at the Cannonboro is the perfect way to make your trip amazing.

The inn keeper was welcoming and the B&B was well appointmented. I really enjoyed the homey feel and the little touches such as tea, coffee, and water, along with a lot of reading materials.

I will come back!

We had a room with a king and twin bed for three adult women. The room was very large, clean, and well appointed, breakfast was very good. Coffee was available early, a big plus! Would stay here again. Were able to sit on the side porch and enjoy a glass of wine, very lovely!

We stayed in room 4 for 3 nights. It was a nice size, and a perk was direct access to the second floor piazza where we could relax listening to the water feature. The staff was helpful and unobtrusive. The breakfasts were good. I usually opted for the fruit parfait, but had the eggs benedict on my last day. I wish the would offer it later, as I don't like to set my alarm to get ready for breakfast early while on vacation. However, they did allow my fiance to take a tray to me in our room. It ended at 9am daily. Parking is an issue in this city, so it was great that the inn has its own parking area (for regular-sized cars). We walked all over the city each day. It took us 10 minutes each evening to walk to numerous restaurants on King Street. We felt perfectly safe in this neighborhood filled with college students; though parts were pretty dark. The free wifi was great. The inn offers numerous brochures, local magazines, and menus available from many local restaurants. It was nice to offer afternoon wine and treats each day, so guests could mingle. Although our room had a mini fridge, it was nice for them to have a shared mini fridge in the lobby with water, iced tea, a coffee machine and tea bags always available. A drug store was within a 5-minute walk, so were 3 or 4 restaurants. There was a ceiling fan in our room, and we were told where the shared temperature settings were located on our floor. The shower head was heavenly and the water was hot. Although it was just the two of us this time, this room had an extra twin bed for a third person, if needed.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the street noise. We had no issues with that, as some did. Also, pay attenti...
