Excellent location off East Bay St in the heart of all the great restaurants. We had excellent service, including a free night at a higher end hotel to compensate for a reservation mixup on their end. We enjoyed the free breakfast, and the wine & cheese & social time every afternoon. Lovely old English decor throughout, excellent public spaces & lounges. We had a large very comfortable room. My only disappointment was that the bed was a little too soft & sagged in the middle with 2 large bodies on it. I would definitely stay here again.

We had to change our first room due to moldy, musty and cigarette smoke smell. We thought the next room was better however when we arrived home and unpacked we found all of our clothing smelled of cigarette smoke - and we do not smoke. To make it worse my husband uses a c-pac at night for sleep apnea. The entire machine was contaminated.

This small hotel is a great location for visiting the sites in Charleston. The rooms are nice and the amenities are good. The front desk is extremEly friendly and helpfu

We stayed in the Anchorage Inn in February of 2011 and again in October 2012. The rates are reasonable, decor is beautiful, location is perfect (right at the waterfront park, walking distance to City Market and Battery), amenities are plentiful (hot continental breakfast in the beautiful dining room, wine and cheese in the afternoon and sherry nightcap in the evening in the elegant library), but in a city filled with wonderful hotels, at the Anchorage Inn it's the staff that makes the difference -- always friendly, always helpful, always make you feel so welcome. Will definitely choose the Anchorage Inn on our next trip to Charleston!
