“Fabulous spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

It was obviously good luck that I found this on line after another reservation fell through and we are SO glad we did. Spent 3 nights in the Carriage House and loved it. Tradd St is the best street ever and delightfully quiet at night. Judy greeted us and was fabulous about recommending spots to eat and explore. We walked and walked and loved the bikes that are provided. No worries about starving. Goodies arrived regularly. Steep steps up to bedroom if you have knee/hip problems. Comfy living room and delightful back deck off bathroom. If you want feather pillows take your own with you. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, interesting spot to stay. Not super fancy but spotless clean.

We are so glad we found this wonderful B&B online. No one knew anything about it at the Visitor's Center, and that's a shame. This place was perfect for us.

The owner, Judy, was very helpful for choosing which places to take in with our three day's stay. Her advice proved right in everything she suggested. She also paid attention to our comments about the diet we are following and provided appropriate food for us.

Judy makes wonderful baked goods that she places in the room each day along with some fresh fruit to boot. Although her goodies were not on our diet, we couldn't help but to sample them for this review and found them delectable.

The Front Garden Room in which we stayed has a fully-equipped kitchenette with a table to eat at. It also has a living room, a bed room (queen) and a bath with tub/shower.

The location was perfect. It is just South of Broad. This whole area is residential with mostly foot and bicycle traffic and filled with historic houses. Judy has bicycles that she provides for guests to ride around the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our ride.

I can't say much more other than book your room now.

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary in Charleston, SC and stayed at Lavender and Lace B&B. You couldn't ask for a better location as it is located south of Broad St. and has easy access to the historical residential areas. Riding the bikes through this area was a lot of fun! It is also conveniently close to everything north of Broad St. Just to give you an idea of how convenient it was...when we parked our car we didn't start it again until we left.

We stayed in the Carriage House and loved it. It had everything we needed. Pastries and breakfast food was great. We enjoyed having homemade goodies to come back to after being out during the day.

Probably, one of the best part about Lavender and Lace is the great service and hospitality of its owner, Judy. It was wonderful to meet her and enjoy her lovingly B&B. She gave us great insight and info about the area: good restaurants, sites to see, things to avoid, etc... Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Room Tip: Carriage Room was great, but I suspect the others rooms are just as nice!

My family and I spent 4 nights here. The location is perfect- easy to find, good off street parking, and an easy walk to everything.

We stayed in the front garden room, which worked well for our small family including a 13 year old boy. The only issue with the room was the design flaw of needing to go through the bedroom to get to the bath, but that's what they had to work with in a 150+ year old house.

Food was great, with plenty of choices and always seemed to keep growing in quantity. Not a typical b&b though, as food just appeared each evening for us to serve up on our own in the morning. Actually kind of nice, allowing lots of freedom to sleep in ;-) We were certainly never hungry after breakfast!

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at Lavender and Lace , New Year's weekend 2011 -2012. TO SAVE TIME I COPIED MOST OF ANOTHER GUESTS REVIEW BECAUSE IT MIRRORED OUR WONDERFUL EXPERIENCES. We could not have been more pleased with our choice. We were greeted by Judy, the owner, upon arrival, and she gave us a great introduction to Charleston. We stayed in the back garden room, which is actually more like a large studio apartment with a sizable bedroom/sitting area, in addition to a small kitchenette, and full bath. The place was clean, nice, and well stocked. We loved that it was not a typical B&B with breakfasts for all of the guests. Instead, Judy bakes delicious fresh pastries daily and keeps each kitchen full of necessities so that guests can feed themselves at their leisure. The location, in the heart of the historic district, was ideal. We parked the car upon arrival Friday and did not move it until we checked out on Monday. We walked everywhere and look forward to another visit in the future when we'll take advantage of the complimentary bicycles. We can't wait to return to Charleston - and to Judy and Lavender and Lace.

Room Tip: All the rooms have their own personality.

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at Lavender and Lace in January of 2011 (yes, I'm a bit slow to leave a review). We could not have been more pleased with our choice. We walked everywhere and look forward to another visit in the future when we'll take advantage of the complimentary bicycles. We can't wait to return to Charleston - and to Judy and Lavender and Lace.

My girlfriend and I just stayed 4 nights in the garden room suite. It is BIGGER than it looks in the pictures. It was very clean, nicely decorated and more than did the job. The surrounding area is quiet and charming.
In the off season there is no "inn keeper" there. If you are looking for a place to stay with an onsite person, this isn't it.
It is close to the main part of Charleston (restaurants, shops etc...) but it is a bit of a walk. I'd say a solid 20 minutes. If you take the bikes, that Judy provides for free, you will be there in 5-7 minutes.
We drove into town as well. Parking is easier than I thought and averaged about $5 for the night/day.
I had previously stayed right in the "heart of things" in downtown and those B & B and hotels are DOUBLE the price as Lavender and Lace. Stay here and save money.....
