“Had A Wonderful Time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2008

Stayed here for a 4-night trip to Charleston on recommendation of a friend & really enjoyed it. The hotel staff was very friendly the entire time & more than willing to accomodate whatever we asked. I'd unknowingly reserved a handicap accessible room & the manager could not switch us that night (they were booked), but found me the next morning to say they would move us whenever we wished. The kids chose to stay in our current room, as they found the large walk-in shower to be fun ;-).

Breakfast was more than just cold danish & toast - hot eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal & lots of other things are on the menu. But they do adhere to the time cut-off strictly, so be in the breakfast room by then.

Room was roomy & comfortable, with a full-size fridge & microwave. Beds were, to me, very comfortable as I slept well the entire time. TVs have built-in DVD & VHS players and there is one in both the living area & the bedroom. Kids loved the indoor pool & wanted to spend as much time as possible there.

Overall, it was a great experience for us & I would recommend it - would definitely stay again.

My hotel stay was satisfactory. The room was small for an extended-stay class hotel. The furniture and bedding was very very firm (aka HARD !!!). The only plus was a full size fridge, a sink and microwave. It really nothing to call home about. The staff was not hospitable. Food service other than your basic pre-package item (i.e.,cereals, yogurt) they offer waffles, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk and juices (There's a Waffle House down the street (hint...hint) ). I would consider other hotels, before deciding on this one.

Stayed one night en-route to another Charleston hotel. Located in an industrial part of Savannah Highway area. Not as close to downtown as I thought. Easy to miss hotel: very institutional looking, poor signage. Outside areas could use a sprucing-up, even though a newer property. Front desk staff nice. Room standard mid-grade suite type. Clean. Nice Caswell-Massey bathroom soaps/ shampoos. Nice sized refrigerator/kitchen area. Indoor pool, great for winter, not so great when it's 100+ degrees out. But clean, plenty of towels. Comp breakfast nothing to brag about, standard. Disappointed in "breakfast room": not very inviting, not very well laid out. All in all, it's an ok hotel for short stays, many families there, they all seemed to like it. No complaints about noise. Wouldn't be my first choice again, but it is convenient, especially if you're stopping for the night on your way to points South of Charleston.

We stayed here for CofC family weekend. I thought since it was only four months old and just 7 miles from downtown and campus, that it would suffice. And I guess, it did. But the staff really leaves a lot to be desired.
Our room was nice enough but the sheets were like sand paper. (OK, not literally, but you get it) and the furniture was hard as a rock. But who gets a room like this to hang out in it anyway? My complaint is with the staff and their attitude and indifference towards the hotel guests. I talked with others on the elevators who were feeling equally, if not more so, perterbed.
Most importantly, I walked in on the hotel cleaning lady in my room the first morning and she was stuffing something (of mine) in her pocket.
--- Should their uniforms REALLY have pockets?????????
I hope management received as many complaints as people who threatened to because I just wasn't in the mood this time. But I am in the mood to warn others.

We stayed two nights at the Hawthorn Suites in Charleston, SC on Savannah Highway. We found this to be a most comfortable and restful hotel! I think that each individual has their own idea of whether a bed or couch is comfortable or not, but this was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in! We didn't find it to be hard at all! I guess the fellow in the previous review must like feather soft beds. The living room furniture was very comfortable and best of all, this is a new hotel and it is very clean! Everyone that works there that we talked to were very nice and we would most definitely stay there again!

On our second night there, we did hear a child running, but it was nothing more that you would hear in any hotel. The pool water was cold, but it was very clean as well.

We went into historic Charleston to do a harbor tour and carriage tour, and we also went to watch the Charleston Riverdogs play baseball. The hotel is close in to everything, but at the same time, it isn't in the crowded part of town where you can hardly get around.

This is a very nice hotel and we would not hesitate to stay here again!

hotel is new....
rooms are nice...
chairs, couches hard....
opening bed okay....
bed mattress hard.....
Noise abounds, with children.....
Booked a room ask for very top floor....
Was not told that the hotel had four floors....
Fourth floor smoking....
We were put on third floor...
When making reservation at this hotel I asked to be on the top floor so no one would be on top of us...I made the reservation weeks in advance...clerk should have explain that this hotel could not accomodate us....We are nonsmokers, so the fourth floor was out...
The room on top of us had children jumping most of the night....The Mgr. was very aloof when told of our restless night...Loud tv in the next room, until late in the AM...
The Desk Mgr. was nice and gave us $20.00 tried to console us...Not that we did not appreciate this act of kindness, but the General Mgr. should have done more.....
I am waiting for Guest Services to call me back....
General Mgr. never got back to Guest Services...
Hopefully they will get a grip on the noise problem....
Although the room was clean, maids were nice....for the most part the experience at the front desk was bad....
If you are looking for rest this is not the place.....
