“Great manager (Cindy), great location”

Palmer's Pinckney Inn

Apr 11, 2008

We stayed for four nights at this inn and thought it was great, very central location, easy walk to shops and restaurants. The restaurant directly over the road was very good.

Cindy, the wonderful manager, was very friendly and helpful. Cindy is such an asset to the inn, always smiling and cooked up muffins and brownies etc for the guests. Breakfast was a help yourself affair in the kitchen - cereal, tea, coffee, muffins and assorted breads etc.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was nice and warm, we had a cold snap in March but never felt cold in our room. The three rooms on the top floor were up a narrow steep staircase which is a little difficult with large or heavy suitcases.

There was a distinct smell of horses from the carriage yard next door but it didn’t bother us and you could only smell it walking up the driveway to the car (not in the room). We parked for free behind the house, in the paved yard.

“Wonderful Stay”

I have been to Charleston six times this year and this was the first time that my bed was so comforable I did not want to get up in the morning. The inn is small but private. I had my choice of the two rooms upstairs of which I chose the street side because of the jucuzzi tube. The street side room gets a little noise when the street cleaners go by in the morning but that is the case for any street side room in Charleston. Everything was new and clean and I cannot see why anyone would give a bad review for the inside of the house. The fridge in the kitchen downstairs was filled full of cokes, yogurts, snacks, drinks, anything you wanted. And in the morning you had the option of eating a cold breakfast there or going over to the palmer home for a hot breakfast. Another plus/value was that you could park your car there for the weekend and walk to all the area attactions and center city. The one downside, and if you like horses it is not a problem, the stables for one of the carriage services is right next door which gives the smell of horses when you come and go. I personally did not find a problem with this and once you were in you room you were not affected by this. I plan to stay there next time I go to Charleston which will be in September. This is a steal for Charleston, great character, great comfort.

My husband and I stayed at Palmers Pinckney Bed and Breakfast Inn for 2 days. It was a disaster. There was no cleaning service. There were Cockroaches. We were given only left overs for breakfast both the days. Parking lot stinks with decays. This Inn is highly overrated.
