“The BEST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

This B&B was seriously one of the best places I have ever stayed. First off, the location is perfect. It just cannot be beat. Vendue Suites is located in the heart of the historic district, adjacent to the Pier. Everything is right outside of your doorstep. Secondly, the room itself is gorgeous. We stayed in the one bedroom, and everything from the canopy bed to the large sunny windows charmed us. There were wonderful touches throughout: chocolate by the bed, silky sheets, comfortable pillows and mattress, soft and fluffy towels, a bottle of wine upon your arrival. Lastly, the food provided was wonderful. Yes, it's not a typical B&B, in that you don't have a full breakfast with your hosts every morning. Instead, after coming in from a lovely day walking the streets of Charleston, you find your mini fridge freshly stocked with cheeses, crackers, fruit, fresh OJ, croissants, and freshly baked pastries. There is also cold cereal, yogurt, and milk, if that's more to your taste, but I preferred the latter. Every morning before exploring the city, we were able to eat at our leisure, while sitting in the large windowsill in our room, looking out at the gorgeous street view. It was actually very reminiscent of my stay in Paris, both in food and view. Everything from reserving the room, checking in, and checking out of Vendue Suites were all a breeze. I can honestly say that Vendue Suites was one of our favorite things about Charleston; I cannot recommend it enough.

We stayed in Rm. 301, the one bedroom unit facing the street, for a four night long weekend getaway. Vendue Suites met our needs in every way: a bargain given the location, room cleanliness was exceptional, it's a really safe area, and perhaps most of all, we were treated to the hospitality of Jean. Her daughter was getting married that weekend but she made sure we were well looked after. Just a few steps from Waterfront Park, Vendue Suites' location was ideal for everything we wanted to do, so much so that we didn't rent a car...we did everything on foot or via the pedicabs. The free trolley stop is around the corner, the City Market and the weekend market are an easy walk, we went for evening walks through tourist-free neighborhoods, the horse carriage booking location is a few minutes away, etc. Fine restaurants are a stone's throw away - we ate at SNOB, High Cotton, and FISH, all excellent. As far as the room goes, it was very quiet despite facing the street, the bed was super comfortable, and it was beautifully appointed. Book early and stay here - you'll be hooked on Vendue Suites, too! (One last tip - a few doors down is Belgian Gelato - yum!!!)

This is a little gem in the heart of downtown Charleston. Location for price cannot be beat. Right next to the waterfront park and couple of blocks from the market. My family stayed in 303 and 302 for my brother's wedding. Both suites were super clean and comfortable. Rooms in 303 are bigger, but overall I think the square footage is the same (302 has a huge bathroom instead). Everything you need, except shampoo, is here. Iron + board, hair dryer, pots/pans, etc. There was even a pack-n-play and air mattresses (both of which we used)! There is no view (some small windows but they face an inner alley), but to me this was a non-issue since you don't go to Charleston to stay in your room. (Side note: I think there is a street view window in the honeymoon suite, just not in the two suites where we stayed). Continental breakfast was included in the room (pastries/bagels/muffins and accompaniments), as well as milk, juice, and supplies for coffee. Also included is wine and a cracker & cheese tray. I really have no complaints about our place and would definitely stay there again. Unfortunately, the property is for sale so not sure what the future holds for it. If prices and service remain the same (Jean went above and beyond!), it will continue to be my go-to place in Charleston.

Room Tip: If you want a view, book the honeymoon suite. Top unit (303) is least noisy and rooms are big. Lux...

Best location in Charleston if you are there to wine and dine. 4 of us stayed in 302 for a long weekend on fun out on the town and there is literally not a better location for that purpose.

This room does not have a view but we were only in the room long enough to get ready and shower. There are 2 bedrooms consisting of 3 beds, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen. One of the bathrooms is amazing and I could have stayed in there all day getting ready.

You are within walking distance (like steps literally) of at least 2 coffee shops, ATMs, bars, restaurants, the waterfront, and anything you can imagine.

I have already recommended this place to others.

First things first, this location at this price can't be beat. We looked high and low for a place to stay in Charleston and this one was very competitive price wise and much more than just a hotel room. We were in room 302, which does not have a view, but you are not in Charleston to sit in the room so it did not bother us at all. Jean was very easy to work with, very laid back, and even allowed us to drop our stuff off early on Friday before the room was ready. Beds were very comfortable, water pressure was great. The tub is a nice deep tub. The location is amazing. Across the street from the Rooftop bar at the Vendue Inn, 1 block from the waterfront, steps away from so many amazing restaraunts. Free drink coupons to Fleet Landing were in the room. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We used to live in downtown Charleston and wanted to stay in a place in our old neighborhood without breaking the bank. The Vendue Suites was perfect. We staying in the smaller suite (the "moon room" I think it's called) which is smallish but perfectly clean and well appointed. We loved looking out our window onto the hustle and bustle that is Charleston. Nice continental breakfast provided in the room which is very convenient. Great restaurants and harbor park just steps away, as is the free trolley. Jean was an absolute joy and made our stay even more fun with her helpful suggestions.

Gathered for a mini-college reunion with 8 other friends and found this to be a central location in old Charleston. We were able to walk to restaurants, sightseeing, shopping and even cooking lessons. Jean stayed late to check us in due to delayed flights and get us situated for a wonderful extended weekend. She made recommendations for a number of eateries and a spa. Since we rented the entire inn of 5 bedrooms, it offered privacy, convenience and central kitchens to gather and visit.
