“It was worth it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

While I would recommend you stop by, don't spend a your time here. Many of the stores have the exact same items and most of the stuff is a little too pricy for me. Plus while we were there it was about 1-2pm and many of the vendors were packing up and leaving and rushing out and I don't know why. There are plenty of shops both inside this building and just around it that are very cool though. Check it out!

“Nice but very touristy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

We visited the Charleston Market on the advice of a friend. I thought it was OK, but I was not overly impressed. Seemed to be what I would expect from a local tourist oriented market ... crafts, candles, etc.
What did impress me at the market were the sweetgrass basket weavers and the lovely baskets for sale. Although the baskets were expensive, I purchased a few for gifts ... they are so unique.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

We enjoyed the market because of the variety of vendors. Of particular interest to us were local crafts, especially artisans who sold sweetgrass baskets. Yes, it is touristy, but we were tourists. Worth a walk-through.

“Pretty much for tourists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We stayed at an inn close to the market so for our last morning we wandered through the market. It is clearly geared for Charleston tourists (like us) & much of the retail was more like a small mall than the feel of historic Charleston. The sweet grass baskets were pretty, but were really expensive. We ended up buying some knick-knacks, but nothing memorable for a great trip to Charleston.
