“Unexpected pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

We were looking for place to eat while we waited for next boat to FT Sumter. This was great. the menu was a little overwhelming so we just ordered the chicken salad special. it was outstanding. after we sat down, we saw great salad bar. The place was crowded with locals and tourists. there was a firetruck parked outside while the firemen ate. they also had some outdoor seating.

“Surprisingly good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

We wound up at East Bay Deli kind of by default. It was the closest eatery to where a Charleston harbor tour left, so we walked there for a quick bite before the tour. We were surprised at how good it was. And how creative the sandwiches are.

I've had chicken salad on a croissant before, but never with bacon added. Great idea! And the chicken salad, made in the restaurant, was the way I like it, with nice sized pieces of chicken and not too mayonaisey. My wife was really interesting - turkey, melted Gouda cheese, pesto, on grilled bread. It smelled just wonderful.

Next time in Charleston, this place just might be worth a trip.

“Not an ordinary deli!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

We were at Ft. Sumpter when approached a young lady handing out coupons and menus. So glad we followed her lead and took the shirt walk. Order at counter they give you a table card with a number. When orders completed they bring it out to you. Specialty Sandwiches, burgers, soups and a full salad bar. Indoor/outdoor
seating. Well worth it even without a coupon.

“We Hope To Be Back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

We were in Charleston over the Holiday Break with our family, which included two teenaged boys. In our travels around town, a nice gal was handing out flyers to a deli just up the block, so that’s where we went for lunch. East Bay Deli hit the spot for all of us. Chicken salad on a spinach wrap, Philly Cheese Steak Sammie, `burgers with fries (not pictured `cause they were gone before I could get a photo), Greek Salad and a hunk-o-cheesecake was on the table this day. Oh, did I mention those flyers gave us $5 off? Sweet! I might have wanted to take a lookey-loo around the place prior to ordering (we came in the back door) there was a beautiful salad bar with fantastic looking goodies to build-your-own, next time.

“Voted #1 for a reason!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

After a morning of touring in Charleston we came upon this deli. The menu has a wide variety of sandwiches, wraps ,salads, and giant spuds! I chose the Turkey Reuben and my husband and sister each chose one of the giant spuds, The Reuben was awesome! One of the best I have had. Loaded with kraut, good rye bread and it filled me up for the remainder of the day. I loaded potatoes were beyond the doubt the largest any of us have ever seen. They each had the Broccoli Spud and could barely finish it. Would highly recommend this deli to everyone. Exceptional food, great price and the staff is very friendly. Walking distance to many sites. you can call ahead for your orders (843)723-1234. Open 8am-9pm daily. They do have a soup and salad bar as well, variety of side and desserts. Will go back again next time in Charleston.
