Description: Established in 2002, and housed in what was originally an indigo warehouse, this Charleston fish house redefines "fresh" from the menu to the decor. COAST features 40-ft ceilings, rustic tin roofs, and paintings from around the world, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an eclectic beach bar. Enjoy a Peach Blanco Sangria outside on the patio, or a delicious bottle of wine in the spacious bar lined with preserved palm trees. COAST's chefs meet daily with local farmers and fishermen to procure the freshest seafood and produce in the Lowcountry. At the heart of the restaurant is the hickory and oak custom made wood burning grill, a feature you will only find at COAST. The menu incorporates Charleston Classics with our chefs' unique creations. Local favorites include the selection of wood-grilled fresh fish, Seared Rare Tuna, Fish Tacos and the full raw bar. Additional original plates are offered nightly to take full advantage of our city's bountiful local ingredients. A great deal of time and attention goes into compiling a wine selection to match the flavor of our wines to the dynamics of COAST's dishes. The wine list features organic and biodynamic producers. COAST makes every effort to support up-and-coming global wine makers, while simultaneously finding only the highest quality products!

“Excellent seafood and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We had a group of six, all making specific requests not exactly on the menu. The waitress did a superb job. Fish and seafood were outstanding. Two had different forms of grouper, one had salmon, one had tuna, one had shrimp, and I do not remember the other. Everyone raved about their entrees. The chef mixes the entrees with interesting vegetables. Portions were large. Two individuals had desserts, both Key Lime pie. They said it was excellent. The only, minor criticism is they have only one form of bread (they serve it in a half loaf) and they serve it cold. Warm bread would add to the meal as well. We all will definitely go back (and all are locals). It is a good-sized restaurant with a big bar area for those so inclined.

“Great Atmosphere, Good Service, Mediocre Seafood ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

My husband and I are visiting Charleston for the first time. We read many good reviews about Coast and the hotel even recommended we eat here. We love seafood being from Baltimore and the Gulf Coast originally but the food at Coast in Charleston was lacking. No real flavor at all. We had the ceviche triple platter and it was nothing to get excited about. The lobster ceviche we did not even finish due to funky taste. I had the salmon with grits and asparagus and grits were not good at all, asparagus under cooked and salmon was ok. Husband had crab cakes with fries and slaw. Crab cakes were ok, fries are fries and although he loves blue cheese he could not even eat the blue cheese slaw. Great atmosphere, good service but would not eat here again and would not recommend.

“Good”

Was right next to our hotel. Seemed to use local farmers. Pretty good place but not there are other places that are worth your time.

“Nice place for dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

This was probably our favorite meal in charleston. The ceviche was great and the Buffalo shrimp were amazing. Atmosphere is very nice and service was good. Our only complaint is they drenched the bacon wrapped scallops in a pomegranate glaze that overwhelmed the taste even of the bacon.
