Description: Established in 2002, and housed in what was originally an indigo warehouse, this Charleston fish house redefines "fresh" from the menu to the decor. COAST features 40-ft ceilings, rustic tin roofs, and paintings from around the world, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an eclectic beach bar. Enjoy a Peach Blanco Sangria outside on the patio, or a delicious bottle of wine in the spacious bar lined with preserved palm trees. COAST's chefs meet daily with local farmers and fishermen to procure the freshest seafood and produce in the Lowcountry. At the heart of the restaurant is the hickory and oak custom made wood burning grill, a feature you will only find at COAST. The menu incorporates Charleston Classics with our chefs' unique creations. Local favorites include the selection of wood-grilled fresh fish, Seared Rare Tuna, Fish Tacos and the full raw bar. Additional original plates are offered nightly to take full advantage of our city's bountiful local ingredients. A great deal of time and attention goes into compiling a wine selection to match the flavor of our wines to the dynamics of COAST's dishes. The wine list features organic and biodynamic producers. COAST makes every effort to support up-and-coming global wine makers, while simultaneously finding only the highest quality products!

“AMAZING!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

Keith from Massachusetts was our waiter incredible!! The food was equal to the impeccable service. We tried the oysters and they were so fresh and tasty. The crab ravioli over mesclun salad was like a party in my mouth. Then my boyfriend and I shared the blackened mahi mahi from the grill and the paella with the swordfish and everything was to die for. I would not only recommend this place but since this is my first time in Charleston i don't think I will go anywhere else. The place had so much character and charm and its down a little alleyway which makes it a hidden treasure.

“Very fine indeed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

We had a lovely diner at this restaurant on a week day night. The service provided by Jeff was wonderful. He was given a large party which caused us concern but he handled it all well. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at a corner table. The wine complimented the meal. The escolar was wonderful and all made for a very pleasant evening. We would go there again if the chance arises.

“The perfect meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Well, it doesn't happen very often. Few times can you ever say everything you ate was wonderful, the ambience great, the staff excellent and you hope you get to do it again. That was the case at Coast located in the Hudson Alley. I had the almond encrusted red snapper -- without question the best fish I have ever eaten. It was served with stone-ground grits and asparagus. I actually thanked the fish for dying so I could have the pleasure of eating it. We started off with the bacon-wrapped scallops served with mixed greens and oh so yummy. Others at the table had grilled Mahi Mahi served with mashed potatoes and grilled mixed veggies (also great). The third person had the fried shrimp served with fries and hush puppies, but she really liked the blue cheese and bacon cole slaw.

“Good Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Food was good however wondering how they got it out to us so fast. In fact it was far too fast. our food arrived at our table within 6 min of ordering. Long before our wine. The whole meal felt rushed. Server was efficient but felt like we were taking too much of her time. great if you're in a hurry but we weren't.

“Great place, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We visited on a Sunday evening with two young grandkids in tow. Really well appointed space, wood fired oven/grill, fresh baked bread. Kids were taken care of even though we did not order food for them. Our party had mahimahi tacos...fantastic grilled fish over very flavorful slaw in a soft taco. The buffalo shrimp tacos (shrimp were battered, deep fried and dredged in buffalo sauce) were not as tasty. We also had a fried oyster salad where the oyster were the stars along with some bits of ham over a nice bed of mixed greens. Red snapper was also nicely grilled. Us adults had their draft beer special...Highland Brewing's Gaelic Ale. A delightful meal and experience.
