“Great for a different lunch spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Five Loaves is a great little lunch spot hidden in the streets of Charleston. It’s pretty small, so I had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat but the variety of choices on the menu was excellent and not your typical lunch menu. They had a lot of exotic combinations of flavors. I got the Gouda and tomato basil soup which was delicious and definitely recommended. I also got half of the turkey sandwich which had this great cranberry sauce on it. The service was pretty slow, but the behind the scene in the kitchen was fantastic providing excellent food. However, it did take a long time for the waiter to get the checks and he ended up giving me the wrong amount of change back. This was probably an honest mistake but the service responsiveness was not great because it took me a while to get the right change back. My expected service at Five Loaves was not met, but the meal was still very good. This being the first time I have been there, I’m not sure what the dinner atmosphere is like but I have heard that it is a better place for lunch. All in all, it was a great meal and I would definitely recommend anyone to go there.

“Great Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Girls spent a day in Charleston while husbands golfed. I had read about this restaurant on Trip Advisor so thought we would give it a try. It is a long walk from downtown. The restaurant has a parking lot across the street so we drove. We had a late lunch. We wanted to order off the dinner menu but unable to do that until 5PM, so we ended up with soup and sandwiches. Everything was very good and fresh. The rolls were great. Would love to go back and try dinner.

“Great lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Stopped in for lunch and had a great meal of soup and salad. 7 handmade soups to choose. Great Caesar salad with their non mayonnaise dressing. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich was also good. Prices are very reasonable.

“Upscale fare at a reasonable price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Delightful cafe within walking distance of the visitor's center. We hit it in between lunch and dinner so it wasn't crowded. It's tiny and the food is excellent so there may be a wait at the dinner hour.

We've been on the road for almost a week and finding high quality food that's simply prepared and delicious has been a challenge. Their soups are out of this world! We each got 1/2 a sandwich and a small bowl of soup. The sandwiches were piles high with hormone free meats with lots of beautiful vegetables/greens. The soups were flavorful and filling. It was a real treat!

“ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Have been twice for dinner and found both times the food was average. I have found it to be ok for lunch with several soups and sandwiches to pick from.
