We had just held a fundraiser the weekend before heading down to Charleston. It was great to hang out with Chefs from around the world and when told them we were heading to Charleston the following week they had a few recommendations for us and FIG was one of them.
It was a long day that was preceded by a 10 hour drive that started at 2 a.m., so we were pretty beat by the time the bar opened around 5 p.m., but wanted to swing in for a couple of drinks and maybe a small bite. That small bite turned into a full on dinner at the bar that really finished up with something amazing.
I am a fan at eating at the bar when there is one or two people in your party as you get more service from the bar staff and when they know the food inside and out, like they did at FIG, you're in for a real treat. They even knew the name of the cow that our beef tartare and steak dishes came from and Pinto was delicious.
I really have to take my hat for to every part of the restaurant. They knew their stuff when it comes to the food, the service was flawless and the food was impeccable.
This is a must place to go if you're a foodie. Sit at the bar and talk to your bartenders. Enjoy the incredible cocktails and if you're feeling up to it: finish with some pappy!
