“My favorite dessert location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I cannot think of another place on the planet that I would rather have dessert! I have never had dessert anywhere else that was better. The tollhouse pie is exceptional.

“Chocolate Martinis!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Chocolate martinis and peanut butter cheesecake - how can you beat that combination? Was fabulous! I wish we would have had time to come back here and try more. Definite MUST for Charleston. Lively at night but small space so hard to get a table. Fantastic service!

“Great drinks + Great Service - Horrible Desserts = 3 Stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013 via mobile

The bartenders at Kaminsky's couldn't be nicer. They're helpful and attentive. The dessert drinks are pretty creative and absolutely delicious (try Thin Mint or Key Lime Pie). The puzzling part is how a place known around town as "THE dessert place" serves such substandard desserts. We went there twice during our trip and both times the desserts were borderline inedible. The first time we ordered the Tollhouse Pie- it was a buttery glop of tasteless goo with some soft pecans (I think) on top- I think it was supposed to be a pie that tastes like a chocolate chip cookie. The second time we went was even worse- how hard do you have to work to mess up a simple brownie? The brownie was thin, dry and crumbly- you'd put your fork in it and it would break apart. I had two bites before I gave up and pushed it away. (Which is my only complaint with the service- they never asked "didn't like the brownie? What's wrong?").

Bottom line: Definitely go to Kaminsky's for the drinks and atmosphere. Definitely skip the food.

Thank you for visiting us at Kaminsky’s Baking Company and thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your experience. It was great to hear how much you enjoyed the atmosphere, drink selection, and hospitality from our staff. We were upset, however, to hear your feedback regarding the desserts you were served on your two visits. Exceptionally high quality desserts and meticulous dessert preparation, has always been our standard at Kaminsky’s, but clearly in your recent experiences that standard was not upheld. There is no excuse for the lack of quality that you referenced in our Tollhouse Cookie Pie or Brownie and we apologize for this lack of attention to detail. We would love another opportunity to impress you, in order to provide you with a true representation of the pride we have for our the desserts we serve. Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope to see soon.

“Just 'eh' desserts, why all the stars?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

Ordered the "almond joy" chocolate cake, and it was just ok -- frosting was hard as a rock, but the cake was moist ... Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? Service was excellent, though, as 2 different servers asked what I thought of it.

Thank you for visiting us at Kaminsky’s Baking Company and thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your experience. We were very glad to hear how much you enjoyed our service, but it was unfortunate to hear your comments regarding the level of enjoyment you had in our dessert selections. At Kaminsky’s, we place a tremendous amount of pride in the preparation and service of our desserts, but clearly that pride was not upheld in your recent experience. Despite being voted Best Desserts in Charleston for the past 16 years, we are always looking for ways to improve the experience of our guests. We take the comments from our guests very seriously and we will be using your feedback in order to improve our approach, and the future experiences of our guests. We hope to have another opportunity to take care of you and we thank you again for your feedback.

“If you've got a sweet tooth, this is the place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

If you have a sweet tooth, this place is a great little spot! They have tons of desserts and drinks to choose from and although we didn't try everything, what we did was amazing. Tried the cappuccino milkshakes and got chocolate cake to go for later. Yum! This is a great little dive if you are looking for a break from walking around downtown Charleston. Great Irish pub looking atmosphere, welcoming and friendly staff and a fun stop!

I will return on my next visit!
