Description: After working in the restaurant business for many years, Tommy opened his first restaurant in 1984. He has made his name by becoming one of Charleston's favorite local spots to serve up Lowcountry specialties such as shrimp and grits and fish and chips. Tommy runs the type of family-oriented establishment where people know their children are as welcome as they are. In fact, a children's menu has been specially prepared for "little leprechauns." In the months following Hurricane Hugo, Tommy made numerous trips to Ireland collecting exquisite antique mirrors and authentic Irish memorabilia that adorn his restaurant. He scoured the countryside and brought every pub mirror he could find. He laughs wryly about his massive shipping bills. The results are worth all his effort. The mirrors cast rich reflections, making the restaurant warm and inviting. Some mirrors are ornately detailed while others shimmer with simple elegance. You'll swear you've been transported to a pub shrouded in antiquity in Ireland's rambling countryside. The restaurant would not be complete without the sounds of Ireland. The background music is perfect. In the pub and bar area the "live" sounds of Ireland can be heard every Wednesday through Sunday nights. You can sit back and listen or join in singing an Irish-American sing-along. Tommy says it is wonderful to see whole families getting in on the fun at one table while at another sits a couple on a date and at yet another sits someone's grandparents remembering and laughing.

“All-time Favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

We've been enjoying Tommy Condon's for a long time. As residents of Charleston, we often take our out-of-town family there for awesome food and music. Our favorites are the reuben sandwich and the corn beef, potatoes, and cabbage dinner. Their hamburger selections are one of the best downtown. On the weekends, we enjoy hanging around for the music. It feels like we're in a pub in Ireland. The staff are great; service is superb. Love sitting outside on the porch. We highly recommend experiencing Tommy Condon's.

“Great Guinness, food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

The Guinness was cold and topped with a shamrock; the restaurant personnel welcoming after a hot day in the market area. The service was excellent and the atmosphere fun. The food was served promptly and was excellent. Great place to enjoy the area.

“Heard Great Music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Did not eat there but went later on at night to listen to some great music. Enjoyed it so much went there twice. Older crowd there. They played Irish and other music, had all singing along with them. Saw a young man play the electric violin just wonderfully. He even played rock on the violin. Older fellow sang Irish tunes and other hits, he had a good voice. The second night 2 fellows played and sang, and again all of us joined in.
