“goat, sheep, cow, pig, duck, grape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Tucked in a residential neighborhood on Church Street is a little shop with big bounty. Probably a hundred cheeses -- the stars -- and a very nice selection of charcuterie and wines to round out a meal. The baguettes are better than others we have tried. The staff takes the intimidation of not knowing every cheese producing region in the world, and let's you enjoy varieties you never knew existed. Americans do themselves a disservice by not enjoying real cheeses enough as a separte course or dessert. G-S-C is fixing that. Note to tourists: plan to take back to your room or make a picnic.

“Local gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

My wife and I stumbled upon this awesome cheese and wine shop in Charleston while sight seeing downtown. The staff is clearly passionate about cheese, food, and wine, and provided many restaurant recommendations after talking food and wine with us. The selection of cheeses is excellent and the wines offered were well thought out. We bought two different cheeses on two different days for sustenance during our walking tours and they were both phenomenal. Visit, enjoy the smells of the delicious cheeses, and talk food with the staff- you will not be disappointed. We tried (to no avail) to ask the staff to open a branch near home......

“Not for tourists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We were intrigued by the name but found that there's really nothing there for tourists. They had a very nice selection of cheeses, meats, and wines, but there wasn't anything that you could take with you.

“Excellent restaurant break and a must for the experienced traveler, novice traveler or local”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

Awesome little cheese shop. Tremendous selection of cheese and enough charcuterie to please any palate. The staff was outstanding and able to offer a number of cheeses based on our taste preferences. Decent wine selection if you don't want to make another stop. On many vacations in Europe we will take a break from the restaurant scene and treat ourselves to a loaf of bread, meat, cheese, etc. Any traveler should find a quiet spot to eat and try this. If you are in Charleston this is the place to get your supplies. If you are local and haven't been here...go!
