Disappointing Zero George
Marcia, Kiawah island SC

Just spent Xmas eve with my husband at Zero George. ...we had great expectations after all the press and were very disappointed....room looked at the staircase to second floor so we couldn't open our drapes...not much hot water in the shower...poor towels and bathrobes, room amenities such as drinks, coffee, water had not been refilled ...no turndown service... Stale baked goods at breakfast...No Xmas spirit...fire not lit, few decorations, no music and while there were heat lamps in the garden, the staff kept saying they light them but it never happened. We did have a great bed in our king room.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the staircase

We stayed for four nights to celebrate my Dec birthday. We were so very pleased by the attention of the staff and the room was really lovely. Great linens, super shower and bath, refrigerator drawer , great ambiance!

Nice touch to provide complimentary glass of good wine for happy hour, and nibbles, also super great blue cheese! Great upscale continental breakfast. Beautiful courtyard newly landscaped. We enjoyed the second floor piazza overlooking the courtyard several afternoons....wonderful to unwind even further and celebrate the warm weather before we returned to cold yukky weather! This place is a really good find and we would definitely recommend it.

We stayed two nights here and loved it! The hotel is four beautiful buildings set around a courtyard. We were in the Cooper building, our room was large, clean and very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Katherine we helped us out with reservations and advice. The hotel is a little further from the main attractions than some of the other hotels we looked at but we have no regrets about choosing the Zero George. As an added bonus they provided valet parking for $20 which after a long drive we were grateful for.

The staff is most helpful and gracious, and the rooms are well appointed. The breakfast is perfect and all that one needs to start the day especially with the delicious coffee, while the wine and cheese is all that one needs in the evening to unwind. All in all the stay was perfect, although I would request a room further away from the main street as it is a bit noisy in the early morning and late evening.

I found this hotel off of google, and did not know anyone who had stayed here before. I am very familiar with the downtown charleston area and other places to stay;however, wanted somewhere very special. I proposed to my now fiancée the night we stayed here and she absolutely loved Zero George. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The rooms and bathrooms are huge and you're not right on top of your neighbor. She was so in love with this place she told me we had to come back every December 10th and stay at Zero George. I highly recommend staying here, you 100% will not be disappointed!

We just spent a lovely long weekend at ZG and have already enthusiastically recommended it to friends. While not close to the center of "the action", it's in a convenient location, with great restaurants within 10-15-minute walks, Saffron Bakery and grocery and drug stores nearby and, when completed in 2015, the huge, new Gaillard Performance Hall virtually across the street. Breakfast is available every day, as are light dinners several nights, and there's a bar in the evenings. We only wished that the breakfast offerings varied a bit from day to day. Housekeeping was spot-on, and the historic buildings clustered around the courtyard contribute to a warm and inviting atmosphere, especially at night. As another reviewer wrote, there was a lot of noise from above us one night (what were they doing at 3am??), but this didn't spoil the stay, and it's hard to imagine what can be done in a historic building like this. One side of the inn fronts on noisy East Bay, so it's probably best to ask for a room at the other end, as we were in.

Room Tip: Stay away from the East Bay and George Street sides to avoid traffic noise. Our Veranda King was su...

Zero George was a relaxing little enclave just a few blocks from downtown Charleston. It is classic in decor and modern in spirit, with remarkably attentive staff and personnel. Seemingly staffed entirely by friendly and professional people aged 30 and under, everyone made us feel quite at home and all their recommendations -- restaurants, day trips, etc -- were spot on. A cooking class (demonstration, really) with Chef Williams was a great way to spend an evening on site, and the daily wine & cheese (free) happy hour was always a relaxing highlight. Wishing great continued success to the hotel, concierge manager Kathryn, and the entire Zero George crew. We'll be back.
