“Had a great time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Amazing drinks in the lobby. Used that food and drink credit to the max. Amazing rooftop bar. In a great location - walkable everywhere. Will definitely stay there again should I find myself in Charleston.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now - each time the week between Christmas and New Year's and most recently, two weeks ago. For an extra $100 per night, stay on the concierge floor! It's worth the pampering you receive and the previous reviewer is correct, Melissa is wonderfully delightful (Hail to the Redskins)! The "old world" feel of this 10-year old hotel makes staying in Charleston feel like a trip to Europe. The Grill 225 restaurant (along with the $50 food voucher) makes it so difficult to enjoy all of the other restaurants on E. Bay Street, including Magnolia's (our favorite).

Everyone and everything is perfect every time we visit! Give yourself a special treat - stay at this hotel!

Room Tip: Splurge - stay on the concierge level!

If you enjoy luxury, delivered by genuine, caring people, look no further than The Market Pavilion Hotel in Charleston! We arrived this past Friday for a weekend getaway. From the time we met a valet in front of the hotel until he met us with our vehicle on Sunday, it was a flawless experience. Mr. Peter Wright, the General Manager, was amazing. His attention to detail coupled by his kindness was evident throughout our stay. He has a winning team here! I also want to mention Lilly, the bartender at the lobby bar. She was exceptional. You owe it to yourself to stop by for a drink. Finally, we had Filet Mignons for lunch one day and without question it was the best piece of beef I've eaten anywhere! I have reservations there in April and can't wait. It was a delight to see good old customer service and luxury alive and well!
Thanks for everything,
William N

We have stayed at this hotel before and really like it...but our visit from 26-30 December 12 was the best! Staff was very helpful. We stayed on the concierge floor and our host, Melissa, made it even more special. She made a special effort to engage with all the guests and introduce the guests to each other. As a result, we felt like we made new friends on this trip! Melissa is a real gem. She had great recommendations on restaurants and attractions too! Hotel restaurant and bar also not to be missed. JB, who attended us at dinner in 225 Grill was also a top notch professional! Hotel is beautiful...not too big and not too small. Perfectly located. We'll stay again! Only criticism...fitness facility not as nice as the rest of the hotel.

Room Tip: Concierge floor is worth it!

We had a wonderful time and all of the staff were most gracious. Melissa who hosted our breakfast was extremely pleasant and accommodating. The gentleman who took over for her our last 2 days was delightful too. Lily who took care of us every afternoon for cocktails and oysters always had a smile on her face. We go to Charleston a few times a year and will definitely make this our stopping place.

Room Tip: We had a suite and a regular room, one on the 3rd floor and one on the 4th, both were charming and q...

My fiancee and I have stayed here 3 times. We love the location, accommodations, staff, and especially the food. On our last trip the concierge called about a week before our scheduled stay to ask if he could help. Through him we booked a table at Cypress for dinner. When we arrived at Cypress there was no reservation and we were turned away. Possibly a problem with Cypress, but I have never had problems reserving a table with them before. Enjoy the hotel and its beautiful atmosphere, but perhaps handle your own reservations.

First, I would like to thank you for staying at the Market Pavilion Hotel 3 times. The staff will appreciate the kind comments and we are happy that you enjoyed the food at Grill 225 or the Pavilion Bar. We pride ourselves on our customer service and I am very proud of the Concierge team we have. I apologize for any inconvenience that Cypress may have caused you as you know we have limited effect with them other than assisting with the reservations. We have pulled the reports and communicated directly with them and they indicated to us a now show with your reservation, so it’s unfortunate that they had turned you away. As this type of issue does not happen very often, we would welcome the opportunity to assist you with any services in the future. You have my assurance that we will ensure that your experience is flawless. Thank you once again for staying with us and we look forward to your next visit.

Just returned from two great days at the Market Pavilion. Been to Charleston many times. Like everywhere I have stayed but this hotel is special. Elegant, beautiful property. Very thoughtful appointments- continental breakfast, fruit and coffee on your floor every morning, fresh flowers in your room, nice robes, friendly staff, great turn down service. Was able to enjoy the concierge floor. This was a real treat and Melissa treated us like royalty-so outgoing and friendly and somehow remembered everyone's names. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and accommodate our every need. Food was delicious and it is a very charming, relaxing space. Parking was $20 for our stay which is very reasonable for the area. Overall great location- Close to many great restaurants, shops etc. and easy to get to. Pavilion bar is by far my favorite rooftop bar in charleston. It is great even in winter with the plexiglass and heat lamps they use to keep it comfortable. Drinks are a little pricey but atmosphere makes up for it. The hotel is an Excellent choice if you want to splurge a little bit for a beautiful stay and gracious hosts.
