“New hotel, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

The hotel is located on the cusp of the historic district. You can walk if you are dedicated to doing so. The valet for the hotel is friendly and convenient. Unfortunately, you are forced to valet your vehicle and a premium charge ($16/night). Located right off main highways and is close to gas station/grocery store. Breakfast is tasty and economical. Room service was prompt and convenient (for the up charge). All furnishings are new and modern. One complaint is lack of bath tub but the showers are enormous. Fitness center is small but has all the necessities (2 treadmills, bike, elliptical, and free weights). Would definitely go back!

we just stayed 3 nights..May 21 thru 23 and I expected better after paying almost $600 plus $52 for parking..first of all, housekeeping didn't even clean our room one day, we were out one day and when we returned at 4 pm our room had not been done, we had to call and then wait for someone to come, then wait out on the balcony while she cleaned our room up...also, on all 3 days they did not do a very good job cleaning up either...they did not get all our used towels and did not leave us more coffee cups nor did they empty the coffee filter from the coffee maker...they also do not clean mildew in the shower...and as for the parking....on our second day we had to wait 15 minutes before we could get a valet person to come get our car to park it...not impressed, I don't think we will stay here again, not worth it for what you pay..also the restaurant in the hotel is high and there is nowhere close to eat, and if you need to get your car, you have to wait for the valet person to go get it each time...they did not offer to deduct anything off from what we paid either.
oh, also, this is NOT in a very good part of town, do not walk around the block, you will get stopped by someone asking for money....very uncomfortable...

I would firstly like to apologize for the problems you experienced with the housekeeping service during your visit. This is totally out of charachter for our housekeeping department as we have received numerous positive reviews.
I have discussed the matter with the Executive Housekeper and he assures me that he will continue to focus on training, and follow up with his staff.
While we are on the Northern side of the Historic District, we are all very excited about the significant redevelopement around the hotel, the Luxury apartments being built on either side of the hotel will definately add to the area when they open later this year.
On closing, I am disapointed we did not do a better job of informing you of the host of fine restaurants located one block behind the hotel on King St. Literally two minutes away there are some of the best restaurants in Charleston.
I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for what would appear to be a very dissapointing stay, should you visit Charleston in the future please contact me directly as I would like to take care of your next stay personally.
Given the opportunity to welcome you back I feel confident we can redeem our reputation.
Thanks.

Furnishings are very sleek and modern. Location is perfect for access to downtown activities (walking distance). Wifi was the fastest I have ever seen. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. I look forward to staying here again.

The hotel is on the edge of the historic district. It will take at least a 10 minute walk to reach downtown and the attractions. The neighbourhood is ok, but not very attractive. The hotel is new and the look is moden. The rooms are clean and everything you need is there. Nothing fancy, nothing special. Just clean and comfy. The breakfast is good. The staff is friendly, but nothing special.

We have stayed in numerous hotels in downtown Charleston. We had an opportunity to stay at this Holiday Inn due to a wedding reception which was within walking distance. We found the hotel to our surprise to be clean, well decorated and comfortable. The service staff was attentive with a welcoming and helpful spirit. Although we didn't dine in the restaurant we did order room service one night and the food was delicious. We understand that the chef was formally from High Cotton a well known restaurant where we have eaten many times over the years. Even though the hotel isn't located in the center of downtown it is only one block from Kings Street and only a 15 minute walk to the Charleston Place Hotel. Despite its location it is very convenient to the Farmers Market which is a wonderful place to spend Saturday morning. Great food, vendors and interesting arts and crafts. Moreover, there is a bicycle shop one block from the hotel or Kings Street where you can rent bikes for the day or the weekend. This is the best way to see the city.

We had a great experience at this hotel thanks to the welcoming and helpful staff. However, the name of this hotel (historic downtown) is very misleading. It is about a 20 min walk from Market Street which is the heart of downtown. There are plenty of alternate forms of transportation for those willing to pay. You may also be deterred by the surrounding areas which are a little run down compared to the image you render of Charleston in your mind. In addition, there is no complimentary breakfast. You are offered a 10% off voucher to their in house restaurant, but this is a drop in the bucket when you see the prices. Happy hour is the way to go here. Parking is an additional $16 per day which is a little hard to stomach until you see what local lots charge for those viewing the town by auto. Overall, a nice, quiet room and great staff.

the moment we stepped foot in the hotel we knew we made the right decision of where to stay. the front desk indiviuals were friendly with smiles and ready to answer all our questions, the walk to the historic district is a nice stroll . we took the yellow bike rides into the district at night. use the yellow line because they are young, strong bodies to pull us and it cost $4.50 per person-cheaper than taxies, plus a fun experience.the rooms were comfortable and our room was pool level. workout room is quite small but serves the purpose.an up and coming area--walk up to king street with restraunts, bars, stores, nice and we felt very safe because people are out on the streets at night. christana was extremely helpful and had a bubbly personality with a killer smile and funny, she is an asset to your staff. also, I called her "dimples" forgot her name she was on the desk during the day and she was alwys willing to help. almost forgot the restraunt is an award winner so check it out. I am not one for eating in hotels but this is an exception.
