“Perfect bed & breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2011

Two Meeting Street Inn was everything we hoped it would be. True southern gracious hospitality and a historic home that would rival any we've seen. In Charleston, it's the perfect location making it walking distance to all you'll want to see and do. You can choose to interact with the other guests or keep totally to yourself and be comfortable doing either. We can't wait to get back!

We stayed here about 20 years ago with friends and meet with a different couple this trip. The inn was as excellent as I remembered. Wonderful inn, excellent and varied breakfast each day, charming, friendly and knowledgable staff (e.g., they remembered that we were on a train when we made the reservation).

If you can, stay in one of the rooms that opens onto the second floor porch. We had wine and cheese out there every afternoon. If you want Southern charm in a small historic inn, this is the place to stay. I have stayed at a number of hotels and inns in Charleston and if you want to experience the true Southern feel of an beautiful inn, I strongly recommend this place.

Only downside is that parking on the street can sometimes be a little problem, esxpecailly in the early afternoon when people are using the park (not big problem) and you are several blocks from most of the places to eat. However, we loved walking the historic streets for dinner each night.

Reserve early this place fills up fast - especially if you want a particular room like the porch rooms.

Jean ,Pete and all their staff made sure that our stay at Two Meeting Street would be memorable. Jean was charming and helpful with recomendations such as where to have the best she-crab soup in Charleston. Time spent at the dining room table talking to Jean added a personal touch to our time at Two Meeting Street. The personal service that the staff provided was remarkable. They went out of their way to be helpful. After a hot day of exploring the charms of Charleston, coming into the cool inviting entrance to Two Meeting Street was like coming home. We stayed in the Carr room on the second floor, this room has access to a second floor balcony with an outdoor seating area, Having a glass of wine at the end of the day enjoying this private area was the prefect way to end a Charleston day. We can hardly wait to come back.

This inn was absolutely the best place to stay during our visit to Charleston. We were right across from a wonderful view of the park at South Battery with views of the water. We could take a morning walk along the water on the battery in the morning, and then watch the morning activity in the park as we ate our great breakfast on the grand wrap around inn porch. The Creme Brulee french toast was the best breakfast, always a cold peach ice tea when we returned from our outings, and tea time before heading out for dinner. Tea time every day always included some great cookies, cake, and crackers with spread, hot and cold drinks. We stayed in the Granite room, just the perfect size for the two of us, roomy bathroom with tub/shower combo, recently updated with furniture and paint, (the virtual tour on their web page is very old for this room). The staff were the best and they were always available if you needed anything. They arranged the private carriage ride to pick us up at the inn, and called us a week before our visit to arrange all our dinner reservations. They suggested the Schooner Sail-an evening full moon sail, and the Tour of Homes. We stayed for three wonderful nights! While walking around town, we looked at many of the other inns mentioned on trip advisor, and were very pleased we picked the Two Meeting Street Inn, as many of these other inns were on busy streets, and/or showing their age. I was worried the inn location would be too far south, but everything is within easy walking distance from the inn, even to the aquarium. Charleston is a wonderful area and Two Meeting Street Inn made the visit perfect! Do not accept credit cards, weekend min. stay required, and best to book early!

I came back from Desert Storm and that was my first time in Charleston (1991). We saw Two Meeting Street Inn for the first time. My wife and I never forgot seeing it, but never did think we could afford it. We were wanting to go to Charleston for a couple days after Labor Day. We called for reservations three weeks before and even got the room we wanted.
What can I say we were not disappointed. Everyone was so helpful and they make you feel like you are at home. Breakfast is different every mourning and afternoon tea was great. You can come and go as you please, but the staff is very friendly and will help book any reservation or travel needs you may need.
We had never had sherry before, but a small glass was the touch that really put a nice ending on the day. Would we go back? Yes without thinking about it!!!!
Beautiful home, with Southern Hospitality, and History.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

Let's face it, some places are irresistable. Two Meeting Street is one of them. I cannot compare it to other hotels I've enjoyed because there is no comparison to be made. Not that others were not also spectacular in their own way, but as I sat on my rocker (husband next to me) watching life on the battery in this unique southern city, I thought whoever decided to convert this gem to a bed and breakfast must have known the gift he was bestowing on the rest of us. My room was appealing and adequate, not trendy, but that's exactly what I expected. What I did not expect was the like-royalty way I was treated by the staff. Foodwise, perfectly lovely. Location an A+. I wish i could bottle this place and pass it along to my friends.
