This hotel is well run and sensitive to the needs of its guests. I particularly liked the champaign offered at the front desk on arrival!! Comfortable bed and outstanding continental breakfast on the terrace. Wine and cheese each evening in the lobby. Great location in the heart of the old historic city. I recommend this strongly. No gym or pool in such an old building.

We try to visit Charleston once a year. Several years ago we discovered the French Quarter Inn. Due to a combination of location, amenities, and hospitality - it has become our "go to" lodging destination. The first two times we stayed there, we initially had problems with our assigned room. The management quickly addressed the problems by upgrading our room status. We have always enjoyed the breakfast provided by the hotel, as well as the evening social hour. We particularly enjoy the friendliness of the staff. We were delighted to see that Lilit is still present for the evening social hour. Phillip is a welcome addition as well. On this particular visit, the valet on duty (Jordan) was very helpful in helping us resolve a problem with our cars parking lights. Finally the bellman (Sam) was quite helpful in helping us solve the mystery of the TV remote control. The concierge staff and cleaning staff are likewise very helpful and very friendly. I'm not sure when we will return to Charleston, but when we do, we will look to stay at FQI.

We planned a "girls getaway" to Charleston for a long weekend and this Inn absolutely blew us away! The Inn was beautiful, the location was perfect, the staff was gracious, and the ammenities (champagne, wine reception each night, breakfast, milk and cookies) were incredible. I would especially like to mention Marvin, Phillip, Sam, Faith and Michelle. These staff members were a pleasure to deal with and made our stay fantastic from the 1st phone call to book the room to check out. We certainly hope to return the the French Quarter Inn many more times.

Such a wonderful treat on a first visit to Charleston. The Inn is just beautiful and fits so well with the surrounding Charleston area. The location is fabulous. We were able to walk to every thing we wanted to visit except for the plantations. We were very early our first day but keeping luggage was no problem; taking cell phone numbers if the room was ready early was no problem; guiding us to a great lunch spot was no problem and there we are - everything we needed was absolutely no problem for this staff. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional and helpful. Phillip our evening wine and cheese "host" was always accomodating and never stopped smiling. Breakfast was delicious and provided all the energy needed for touring and shopping. A wonderful complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary was a treat. The French Quarter Inn will be our place to stay on our next visit to Charleston.

Room Tip: Either a veranda or balcony room overlooking the market are wonderful.

We were a family of 8 travelling south from NY to Florida and had thought of stopping by Charleston to break the trip. I did not have much expectations for the hotel as it was recommended to me by a relative though I was aware of it's high rating in Tripadvisor. We stayed here one night in two similar rooms both with 2 queen beds. The stay ended up quite delightful! Though we were slated to leave first thing in the morning we ended up maximizing our stay till noon.

The rooms were very well appointed with full amenities and great bathrooms. A plethora of Pillow choices (my daughter could not get over the Pillow menu they provided), comfortable beds ,great design made this hotel a place to visit instead of just a place to sleep in. Needless to say it was spotless and smelled great.

The hotel itself is very pretty and interesting. Though it is small, it did not feel crowded. It's location is unparalleled being right beside the main market and surrounded by dozens of eating places. Service was very attentive and they have thought of everything from a champagne welcome to complimentary breakfast to evening cocktails and milk and cookies for kids at night and complimentary bikes, all for guests of the Inn. Staff was not only friendly but you could get a sense of pride and sincerity and making sure your stay was as good as can be. We have stayed in great hotels all over the world and this Inn is every bit as good as these very famous hotels. I can't say enough good things about this place and can't think of ways to improve it.

I highly recommend this to all who may find themselves in Charleston.

Room Tip: We had basic rooms on two sides of the hallway on the 2nd floor, both were quiet and had city views...

This was our first visit to the French Quarter and it will not be our last. We were pampered from the moment we walked through the door. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a wonderful veranda over Church Street and enjoyed the port, cookies and milk each evening while watching the comings and goings on Church Street. Breakfast was always a treat and the wine and cheese each evening was wonderful and relaxing. Mike at the front desk was always there to help with dining reservations. The French Quarter Inn is definitely the place to stay when visiting Charleston!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a patio on Church Street. You can see the market as well as St Phillips and all...

This was our first, (but not last) visit to Charleston and so we wanted an elegant hotel that exuded the Charleston vibe. From the moment we walked into the elegant lobby and during our entire stay we felt pampered. Fresh coffee outside the room upon awakening. Our spotless room was spacious with a large patio. Champagne was sent to celebrate our anniversary. We received excellent restaurant recommendations and tour ideas from front desk staff. This has been one of our favorite trips and we will be back.

Room Tip: Get an upgrade to a terrace room.
