“So so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

For a Hampton Inn, I felt this place was nicer than most. Long review short - I don't think I would return. The bathtub was clogged when we got to the room. The bathroom sink was damaged - the legs underneith had broken parts. It just felt cheap - and for over $600 for two nights, I feel we should have gotten a little more bang for our buck.

That being said, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very nice.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review our hotel. I wish your experience had been better as we know we need to earn your business every time. While this response might be a bit delayed, we took the opportunity to search our problem areas with our vanities in earnest and have corrected the deficiancies we found. We have also implemented a procedure to ensure that our tub drains are free and clear every day. I hope you will give us another opportunity in the future.

I stayed here with my mother and daughters. Everyone on staff (and I do mean everyone) was extremely friendly. Decent breakfast selection, spotless room, comfy bed, walking distance to everything. If you are in town for the bridge run, this is the BEST location. Expect overpriced rooms for busier weekends, but you will be in the heart of it all. Great hotel for kids too.

The hotel is in the perfect location. It's across the the street from the free trolley and just a half block away from King street. the doorman was super nice, the reception folks business only, and the room was lovely. absolutely spotless. Ours had 2 queens and a mini pullout sofa that was perfect for our third child. the breakfast was nice and there was plenty of room to eat. Our only problem was that our room would not cool down.

Very clean hotel. Nice updated bathroom. Felt safe. Close to everything. Loved being able to get the free trolley just steps from the hotel. Can't beat a free breakfast buffet. Would definitely use this hotel again.

This is an ideal place to stay in Charleston. The parking garage is adjacent to the hotel so very convenient for any coming and going you need to do. The free area shuttle stop is directly across the street so it is easy to take advantage of easy transportation for your sightseeing. They offer a good selection on their hot breakfast buffet which is included in your room price and always a free beverage station set up in the lobby which we took advantage of after walking around in the COLD while we were there. Rooms were clean and staff were pleasant and helpful. Overall a great choice while in Charleston.

Upon arriving at the Hampton Inn Charleston-Historic District, I instantly knew that we had made a perfect choice for our Charleston getaway. The hotel lobby area is beautiful and charming. They have a complimentary beverage station set up with an assortment of hot coffees, as well as hot water for hot chocolate or tea. They even had my husband's favorite french vanilla creamer! The rooms are extremely comfortable. The bed that we slept in was amazing. The softness of the sheets was pure heaven! One great thing about this hotel is that not only are the sheets washed every day, but the duvet cover on the bed is washed for every guest - something that not every hotel does. The bathroom was clean with lovely fixtures as well.
Aside from the cleanliness and charm of the hotel, every staff member that we encountered was warm and friendly. The free breakfast that is included with your stay definitely adds to the value. The breakfast featured hot foods as well as items such as fruit, cereal and pastries. My favorite was the waffle maker.
Finally, the location of this hotel is wonderful. Everything is truly within walking distance. The hotel is located directly across the street from the Visitors' Center, which has tons of information about activities and tours. The hotel is 1 block away from King Street, which is a hot spot featuring tons of restaurants and stores. My husband and I walked pretty much everywhere from our hotel. However, if you are not in the mood to walk, the free trolly stops right across the street from the hotel. On a side note, we did not rent a car for this getaway, and were pleased with this decision as we did not see any need for it. :)
Overall, we had a great experience at this hotel, and look forward to staying here again!

April 2013: We thought this was going to be a fairly low level hotel for our vacation in Charleston SC. You know..basic Hampton Inn on Jersey turnpike sort of thing. It turned out really nice. The staff was excellent courteous, and helpful. The Inn was large well decorated and clean and welcoming in appearance. Its a vibrant place with lots of guests milling around and sitting in the lobby. The lobby was large and well designed for many to sit and socialize and have a great varied breakfast (included in daily price). The rooms were large and well equipped. My teenager had a pullout couch to sleep in. There was a microwave and fridge. WiFi was free in the room. Its about a mile walk to the most elegant part of Old downtown but the walk is really nice and passes many nice shops. You can also take a free trolly. The beds were very comfortable. Its really nice how they put out cookies, tea and coffee, orange juice throughout the day. Id return with out reservation. Cost is moderate: ($250-300/night per room).
