My husband and I stayed in this hotel in Sept. 2012 this year. It was our first time staying in a Hampton Inn and we were delighted. The southern style decor of the rooms and lobby were aesthetically and artistically pleasing to the eye. The outdoor patio and pool area exuded that same special southern charm.
The staff of this hotel were very helpful , friendly and there was nothing they wouldn't do to make you stay comfortable and very special especially Gernette Dingle at the front desk who was always ready with a smile and friendly and useful information. The full breakfast was tasty and very seldom ran out of food. The afternoon manager's special was also a treat after a long day of sight seeing. Free snacks, wine and beer. Great !
We will definitely be returning to this wonderful place on our next trip to Charleston. Like I said, the description on line matched it perfectly, no surprises lots but lots of pleasure, fun and enjoyment.

I booked this hotel because a block of rooms was set aside for a wedding I was attending at Magnolia Plantation. I drove several hours to arrive just in time for the wedding. Therefore, I did not check in until after the wedding reception. It was difficult finding the hotel--especially late at night. I was told by the clerk at the front desk that there was a problem with their computer system and that my reservation had gotten lost. This is hard to believe considering I had received a confirmation email reminder just the day before. I was told that the hotel had booked me another room at another hotel (and different hotel chain) on their dime. I appreciate that they paid for the room, but I did not like that I was not contacted earlier in the day to let me know about the problem. Secondly, I did not like having to go back out late at night in a strange city to find the alternative hotel, especially with the less than reliable directions the clerk gave me. Less than impressed with my experience.

My husband and I recently stayed at this property. If you are not opposed to being a few miles outside of the historic Charleston area this is a great choice. The suite we stayed in with a kitchen was very spacious. It did have an odd layout in the bathroom area. I loved the British Isles inspired decor in the lobby. The outside of the property is very attractive.

I did have two minor issues here. One dealt with housekeeping. We returned to our room and found a bag of trash that was taken out of a waste basket sitting on a clothing item I have left on the dresser. Secondly, my husband and I returned late one evening following a concert. Neither one of our keys worked in a side entrance door to the hotel. We told the hotel clerk about it and she asked if we had them close to our cell phones. We both responded, "no" and she asked again with attitude. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Not downright rude but making you feel like you were bothering her. I do have to say we never felt that way about the day shift workers. They were all very friendly.

We were visiting Charleston for a wedding at the Magnolia Plantation. The hotel was conveniently located to the wedding site and downtown Charleston. The hotel lobby is lovely and the manager's reception held on Monday through Thursday nights was a nice treat...beer, wine, soda, and a good variety of snacks. Freshly baked cookies are available nightly. Breakfast was okay, variety was not as good as other Hampton Inns and hot items weren't hot. The front desk staff was helpful and had printed directions to Charleston attractions. Directions back to the hotel were printed on the reverse side. The king suite was large with a microwave, refrigerator, and sink in the kitchen area.
During our three night stay, room cleaning was missed once but we didn't complain. The hotel seemed well kept except for the elevator which always had an unvacuumed mat on the floor.
The pool and patio were lovely. Overall we were pleased with our stay and would stay at this Hampton again.
