Recently we visited Charleston, actually a revisit after many years. Last minute trip and great weather made this hotel a perfect place to stay. You feel some of the history of Charleston when you stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms tend to be quite small and the bathrooms even smaller. If you get the side that views the poo...

Given this is a Holiday Inn, I figured the high cost was probably due to the excellent location (and it is that). My anxiety was heightened by some reviews that slammed the place. As it turns out, I couldn't have been more impress. The staff other reviewers complained about were no place to be found during my visit. They were friendly, accommodating and responsive to my requests for assistance. The room was just fine and the period furniture was a plus. The bathroom appeared recently re-done and I especially like the slate floor. Don't see many of them in a head. Based on one review, I checked my car for damage when it came out of valet parking. No issues. Kuddos to Holiday Inn. This is a great property.

I recently spent a long weekend at the Mills House and was impressed by the service and charm of the hotel. Our flight down to Charleston was considerably delayed and while checking in, the front desk clerk gave us two drink vouchers since we had a rough day of travel. Aside from this gesture, I found the staff to be very attentive and hospitable. The hotel is well situated, with the waterfront, shopping, and nightlife within easy walking distance (highly recommend the Charleston Grill). The building had a lot of nice ornate detail and was very charming. I enjoyed the decor and ambiance of the courtyard, bar / dining room, and the lobby area. The rooms themselves were reasonably updated, but didn't stand out. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on my next trip down.

A little run down. Nickel and dime you. Coffee $2, newspaper $6. So so service. Bartender was friendly. A lot of great places within walking distance. Don't miss Hall's chophouse down the street ten blocks.

Greg and I just got back from a short weekend trip to Charleston and once again stayed at Mills House. We have stayed at this hotel 4 different times and would rate it 5 stars every time! Was once again greeted with friendly valet service,( definitely worth the convenience and few extra dollars) welcoming check in, and the peaceful feeling of entering into our beautiful, comfortable room and knowing we had two days of relaxing and eating all the great food Charleston has to offer! We never moved our truck the whole stay, as everything is within walking distance from Mills House. Love the beds here! Got room service several times...breakfast once and dinner once. The food was delicious! We plan to return to Mills House many more times!

Mills House is an example of an older Hotel that has kept up with times by Timely renovations. The service is top rate and the beds are ok. Some rooms have bathrooms that are small on todays standards but this hotel was probably built in the 60s or earlier. The beds are modern and comfortable. Service by staff is top rate. Location is in the heart of the historic district. Justines kitchen is 5 blocks away and Tristens is 4 blocks away. Marketstreet is 3 blocks. parking is $22 per day with unlimeted in and out. If you don't use Valet it will cost you $20 per day for downtown garages so use the valet.

Mill House Hotel has been returned to its spendor. The place is one of the best managed hotels
I have stayed in and I have stayed in alot of 4 star. I was so pleasently surprised because it went through a time 10 yrs back or so when it was not up to its original reputation. Clean, fresh , tasteful, nice people,- they do just what you would hope. The food is very good. It hold to this day the best she crab soup and has for decades. Parking is easy - lot beside hotel and good bars and rest. nearby. best shopping on that end of King, near Broad street art galleries. highly recommend!

Room Tip: some have balconies
