“Beautiful Mills House Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We spent four days in Charleston this month, and stayed at this amazing hotel. It was beautiful and inviting from the moment we walked in the door. The staff was always anxious to please and show us that southern hospitality. While we had booked a room wih a king sized bed, we were pleased to be upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. The room was artfully decorated and there was ample room to sit on the couch and read or watch TV, as well as a great desk to comfortably use our laptop and extra seating. The bed was extremely comfortable and maid service did a great job, leaving us chocolates on the pillow every night. We had the advantage of eating outside in the Courtyard restaurant, the most beautiful outdoor dining spot in Charleston. We did use the valet parking and it was very convenient with no waiting. The location of this historical hotel, in the middle of the historic district, was so convenient, and we were able to walk to most of our destinations. I definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would recommend this hotel in the heart of the historic district to anyone traveling to Charleston.

The rooms are small, but somewhat expected when you see the vintage history of this hotel and the town itself. I was plesantly surprised at this last minute trip we arranged and the accomodations. The hotel is located very well in downtown Charleston, within easy walking distance to Carriage rides, shopping, dining, and other attraction. If you like to walk history, this is a great hotel to stay at.
The dining, the cleaniness and the staff were all excellent, the smaller size rooms were the only downside. "When" I return to Charleston, I would have zero hesitation to rebboking accomodations at this hotel.

MIlls House is located to provide an easy walk to much of the historic area, the Battery, Market Street and many good restaurants. Parking is in a city garage located behind the hotel and there is a direct connection to the hotel, so valet is not really required. Also, note that there is no charge for parking if you have a Handicap permit.
The hotel itself is in an historic building. The rooms are nicely furnished and the restaurant has a beautiful outdoor dining area. The staff is very helpful and friendly and seem to enjoy helping their guests with info, restaurant recommendations, and service.
This is not an inexpensive hotel, but is well worth worth the cost if that is not an issue.

Room Tip: Obviously, higher floors have a better view, but you can't go wrong on the north side.

I had the opportunity to spend the weekend at the Mills House for a family wedding that also took place at the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and has the hisotric Charleston charm that I was hoping for. The lobby is bright and elegant with different little seating and lounge areas to hang out it. Our room was a basic double and was very spacious and clean. Along with the beds there was a nice sized sitting area and desk. The hotel is in the perfect location, we were able to walk to numerous restaurants and bars, the slave market is only a block away. Just a wonderful experience, we would not hesitate to visit Charleston again and stay at the Mills House.

This hotel is within a few blocks of almost everywhere you want to go in Charleston. The staff is always friendly and they have $1 coke vending machines on each floor. We have stayed here three times and the quality is always consistent. Good value.

We stopped here for a night to check out Charleston during our trip to nearby Beaufort.

Rooms were really nice and modern. Room service was quick, tasty and well priced - surf and turf sliders are highly recommended.

Pool area was a relaxing, quiet and tucked away from the street area.

Location was great, within walking distance from great restaurants and beautiful walks around the historic areas.

Staff was helpful and check in was fast.

Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.
