“Great Charleston Location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Charleston Place Hotel is in an excellent location in Charleston. The Hotel is located near the Charleston Market and near excellent high end shopping on Kings Street. We walked everywhere and only moved our car to drive to North Charleston. The Spa in the Hotel is nice and has a saltwater indoor heated pool. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and attentive. We were on the 4th floor and had a very quiet restful stay. The pillows were nice and plentiful and the rooms were pretty and very clean. Self-parking is convenient and is $14 per night. Valet parking is $29 per night. We used the self-parking with no problem. There are nice shops on the first floor of the hotel (Brookstone, Chicos, Godiva, etc.). The bar and restaurant are nice and attractive, but there are so many other places to visit in Charleston that we did not use the on-site bar, or restaurant. Payed for stay through Orbitz $211 per night.

Room Tip: Checkout prices through Orbitz, Travelocity, or Hotels.com. They are cheaper than the hotel prices.

Let's see, the hotel is beautiful, the service is perfect, the beds were wonderful, the towels were big and fat and soft. Every single person on the hotel staff spoke and smiled when ever you encountered them. We stayed on the club level which was worth the extra cost. They have beverage service all day, a continental breakfast with really lovely pastries and fruit and a number of other things, tea time in the afternoon and cocktails in the evening. The staff remembered my name, which is a very small thing but it shows the attention to detail. Housekeeping asked if I needed anything special. Trust me I'm not important so they do it for everybody. I would like to just live there. Also the location is right where you want to be, close to the sites and great restaurants. You just can't do any better than the Charleston Place !

Room Tip: Stay on the club level if you can, it's worth the extra cost !

Overall, I could not be happier with our stay at the Charleston Place. From making phone reservations to checkout, the service was top notch: friendly, professional, attentive, courteous, thoughtful, etc, etc, etc. We visited for an anniversary, and were met with champagne and a chocolate truffle cake. They included other small extras during our stay as well. The hotel itself is beautiful and very centrally located for visiting Charleston. You are within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and the historic homes and sites of Charleston. Our room was very clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The ONLY negative was that our room was an adjoining room, and noise traveled pretty easily from the adjacent room thru the common set of doors separating the rooms. A pretty small negative, considering that everyone at the Charleston Place was superb. While the hotel itself was beautiful, the staff from valet, bell service, front desk, to house keeping and the service they provided really made our stay outstanding. It is now our destination when we next visit Charleston. Very impressed! If feasible, stay on one of the Club Level floors to enjoy the amenities!

Room Tip: Club Level was great-take advantage of it if you can.

We stayed in August 2011, on the club level floors. Apart from feeling a little out of place (we're not normally staying at such hotels) we LOVED this hotel. Fabulous service everywhere. Only deducting points from the Spa - not impressed with the mani-pedi, loved the rest.

Room Tip: Choose the club level for added snacks, drinks and sitting rooms. We loved the convenience!

I called ahead, was told that the decorations were exceptional. They were really great, people came in from the street to take pictures.Location was ideal, pets are aloud very few hotels there allow them.the whole experience was just right. Not cheap, but for a treat it fits the bill. My dog even got a special treat.Shopping without leaving the Hotel was very nice.

Room Tip: Stay on the Club floors, costs more well worth it.

Writing this review 7 months after visiting The Charleston Place and it is still fresh and memorable in my mind. What a wonderful hotel. The staff went out of their way to make you feel like you were the only guests in their hotel. The bedding, bath, sitting room, was extremely comfortable. Their amenities (bath gels) are not run of the mill.... far superior to your other local hotels The room temperature was just right for the hottest June we were experiencing. The staff was curtious and attentive. And the Spa/Pool....oh my... my skin felt amazing, and my body refreshed after walking thru Charleston. I can not wait to go back, The city is just fascinating. Everyone was so pleasant with us....we befriended so many tour guides with our excitement about their city! The only situation we avoided were the "peddlers" for tickets to attractions. We did our homework, got information from the main tourist center for coupons...instead of being "roped" in for 'deals'. I know that people have to earn a living...but not for me..I like to pursue adventures on my own and listen to the local residents for their advice! But remember, some people are never satisfied with whatever the circumstance...but I honestly could not find a negative aspect of this hotel or city - at all. Amazing.

Room Tip: Ask for an Upgrade...suites are Wonderful. If you can register for the Club level...do it, it is so...

The lobby is beautiful as are the rooms. Try the club level ...you will be spoiled by the morning and evening food and beverage presentations. Indoor pool and spa area are first class. Hotel is in walking distance from most of the downtown historic sights.
