“Best hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

I had the pleasure of staying at the Restoration on King last week while in Charleston for my wedding. Everything about this hotel is fantastic... the location, the staff, the rooms, the decor... everything!! I seriously wanted to move in! I booked our rooms months and months ago and called the hotel on a regular basis to ask questions and they were always so accommodating and pleasant, I even called to request a room with good natural lighting for my bridal make up (crazy bride, I know!) and they made a note of it and made sure my room had plenty of windows. Between my guests and myself we had 3 separate rooms (202, 205, 207) and they were all beautiful! two of the rooms were 1 bedrooms, and the third was a 2 bedroom. Each room had different features but all were amazing! The 2 bedroom was ideal for larger groups, it is where I got ready for my wedding at and we had plenty of room with the photographers, videographers, make up artist and family all in the same space. The staff was so helpful with making arrangements, they even had a bottle of Champagne waiting for us when we arrived and gladly delivered our welcome bags to our guests rooms. I can not wait to come back to Charleston and stay at the Restoration on King again, it is truly a one of a kind. I could go on and on about how great this hotel is, if you go to Charleston and don't stay at the restoration on king you are doing yourself a disservice.

Room Tip: take your glass of wine from the wine and cheese reception up to the rooftop! being surround by all...

Arrived in stunning Chaleston looki forward to some southern hospitality and were not disappointed. Although not looking good from outside, the hotel was a revelation, converted from threefold homes dating back to pre civil war into 16 suites. Our room 208, was wonderful. A big suite of rooms in aloft style conversion. Great high ceilings and spacious lounge/diner/kitchen with top quality equipment and furnishings. The king bed was really comfortable and the shower great although the bathroom not large. The breakfast was a picnic basket of fruit, eggs, cereal, pastries and drinks. The staff were really welcoming and the general manager made an appearance at the complimentary daily wine and cheese at 5pm. He was really pleased to give us the history of the building. There is no parking but valeted parking provided. A special hotel experience in a very special city.

Room Tip: Can only say 208 was great, early risers so the light traffic from 6.30 didn't bother us

Wow oh wow, this is anything but a hotel! It's a full apartment and spotlessly clean. Great service, great treats first at 5pm then dessert at 8, and breakfast delivery at 10 AM! Life is good and we are Happy driving the new 528i through GA and now SC. We are right in the historic district, food, shopping and all the things we love to do are at our fingertips. Hate to have to leave and go home but missing the boys and Alexa will be home Wednesday night!
This is a MUST STAY and we will be back to enjoy more of Charleston.

Room Tip: I am in 206 and it's all good, there are suites with private balconies!

After reading all the great reviews on ROK, we were extremely excited about staying here. Well, it did not start off good! After traveling we had to wait about 1 hr & 15 mins after the check in time before our room was ready. They said everyone had checked out at noon & therefore it was not done. I had read that the staff was extremely friendly. I did not find that to be true! The 2 ladies that we dealt with were rather snippy & abrupt! The men were all kind & Nathaniel & Greg deserve a special thanks as they were very pleasant & eager to help. We were happy with our room! However, it faced King St and was extremely noisy and had no view to speak of. I know this is to be expected in the city. My advice is to make sure you have ear plugs. We did love the location & it was in walking distance of almost everything. I was traveling with 2 adult daughters. They liked the fact that there was an APP to use if you needed to make a request for something. They do stock the fridge with 9 bottles of Coke products. The app makes it sound like you can request more. When she called the front desk to request more Coke, per our previous experience with the lady at the front desk, she was rude & short! "We only give it to you one time". Then kindly do not put on your app or put that there's a charge, which we would have been glad to pay. We just wanted more Coke, as we do not drink Sprite or Diet Coke. I was going to ask for a toothbrush as I had left mine at another hotel the previous night, but not after this. I am unable to mention any names of people I was unhappy with, as they do not wear name tags. We did enjoy the rooftop & spent several nights up there. Employees need to remember that you only have one chance to make a first impression. Ours wasn't very good! Guests are the reason you have a job & just want to be treated nicely while visiting. After our experience, although we loved the actual room, we will not be staying again. We will just give someone else our business. We LOVED Charleston!

Room Tip: I would suggest one not facing King St.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a fabulous 2 bed, 2 bath corner suite on the 3 rd floor. Unfortunately, our rooms faced a major renovation project where they were working through the night. We would be awoken throughout the night with various loud noises of construction. Can't even believe it's legal. Otherwise, it would have been perfect.
Breakfast delivered to your room. Wine, beer and cheese at 5. Cookies and milk at 8. A great roof top deck. We made use of their bikes to ride around the city. A wonderful way to enjoy Charleston.

We had the pleasure of staying here for a few nights and it was fantastic. We had one of the two bedroom suites and we could have just moved in permanently, it felt like home! The rooms were spacious and had everything you could possibly want (even a washing machine!), not to mention perfectly appointed with nice finishes and linens. The staff was so gracious and accommodating, assisting us with anything we needed. We could not have been happier and we look forward to our next visit!

Home from home - loft style apartments. Excellent meet & greet and easy valet park to welcome you to this superb hotel alternative. The apartment I had was very spacious with excellent full kitchen facilities including in-room laundry appliances which was appreciated after 3 weeks touring around Florida & Georgia.
The apartments are a good specification with all the usual home comforts. The hotel style services are professional with breakfast delivered to your room which was a nice way to start the day. I am only staying for a few days but could easily stay here comfortably for a longer period.
The added bonus is that it is also located in the heart of the historic district by King St!!!!
