Owner description: Middleton Place is an 18th century rice plantation and National Historic Landmark comprising 65 acres of America's oldest landscaped Gardens, the Middleton Place House Museum and the Plantation Stableyards. The Gardens reflect the elegant symmetry of 17th century European design. Sculpted terraces, parterres, and reflection pools inhabited by swans are highlights of their intricate design. Rare camellias bloom in the winter, while vibrant azaleas blanket the hillside above the Mill Pond in the spring.

“Excellent Plantation to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

We opted for the $50 all day tour. This included a guided tour by a period costumed guide and his Belgin Horses, May and June. Visited the home, the rice bin, gardens and ate at the restaurant. The food was great and plentiful...may want to share. Was well worth the money. However, there are other options available.

“Wedding Entertainment Professional”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Very high class wedding venue. I'm a local wedding Dj ( CharlestonDj Entertainment.net ) I've provided clients with wedding receptions at Middleton Place, and the staff there were very professional..not to mention the food was superb!. For a beautiful historical Charleston event...this is one of the chosen few!

“Beautiful landscaped gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Very beautiful gardens that go on and on and on! We loved being along the Ashley River and having several ponds to see the wildlife and casually stroll through the gardens. My favorite was the four seasons! Amazing sculptures!

Although it is missing it's grand house, the damn Yankees reduced it to rubble, the grounds are exquisite and the out buildings and guys provide a fantastic look into the rice plantation life in Charleston, SC

“If you can only go to one plantation, go here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Be prepared to spend most of a day exploring the beautiful grounds, historic buildings and farm. Take a guided tour of the plantation to hear about it's history - it's well worth it! But the best way to see everything is to stay at the Inn at Middleton Place - guests get free access to the plantation grounds.
