“One of our favorites for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We have been twice and really enjoy it. For the price it is a very good deal. We never seem to see much of the "living history" part of it, but our son enjoys the boat and the whole family likes the small zoo. Just to see some of thes animals is probably worth the cost. Given how much less it cost then many similar sites I would suggest you go here if your in the area.

“liked it, but wish there was more there to see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We went there with 4 adults and children and we all enjoyed it, but the title of this review says it all. I wish there was more to do and see. We all liked it, but could see that the time to visit was probably when something special was going on.

“Excellent new museum great Charleston Intro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

A $20-million renovation over the past six years has paid off in the addition of an outstanding museum of this 1670 settlement and the development of the fascinating history of the South Carolina Low Country. Lots of trails for the youngsters but the main attraction is the museum and it deserves a full hour to absorb the cleverly designed exhibits and tableaux. A must for families with children and located about 15 minutes from downton Charleston in very welcome seclusion. Worth it!

“Not Much”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

There was not much of interest for me here. I think the intent of the place is to give the visitor a prespective of early colonial life. Not the life of the large plantation owners but the life of the first settlers. OK, so there is this little cabin on the grounds. They are spending their money developing a half-baked zoo there - and nobody seems to know why a zoo or what that has to do with early life in Charleston. History can be interesting and Charleston offers much better places to explore.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Everything is so clean and bright. The animals were so cool to watch. The birds were the best because you can see them being fed while being in their natural enviromentally friendly netting which was huge. Everything was so beutiful. The trails we got to ride along were so cool becuse we got a canoe! Awesome..
