“Elegant Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Room: Very beautiful, elegant inn. We stayed in the Barbados Room, which is on the level below the main floor. It still had windows and our own little outdoor sitting area that looked out on the garden and parking lot. We were a little worried about the noise of people walking around the kitchen, dining room and sitting room in the mornings, since they would be walking on top of us, but it was pretty quiet. We enjoyed the luxury bath robes, making gourmet coffee in the morning and the big jacuzzi tub. The bed was also very comfortable and the room very clean.

Service: more like a hotel in that it lacked the charm of a more personalized B&B. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but some seemed to lack the knowledge to recommend activities and restaurants. The were happy to make any arrangements that you could want, but I felt like they didn't have personal experience with the things they recommended.

Location: Very convenient location to walk to all the historic houses, restaurants and galleries. We walked to dinner every night and enjoyed the park near the water. It is a short 20 - 30 min drive to many plantations.

Breakfast: You get a menu each more with the special of the day (bread pudding, eggs benedict..ect.) or you can choose toast, fruit or a yogurt parfait. The food was just ok. We ended up picking the yogurt a couple times because the main dish was a little disappointing. For the price you pay I would have expected more. A couple times by the time we went upstairs for breakfast, the coffee was all out and we had to wait a good 15 min before they brewed more.

“A Spectacular Southern Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

My husband and I just returned from a "dream trip" to Charleston and Savannah. Our first stop was this charming and elegant inn, full of history and antiques. The location is within walking distance to most anything you would want to see in Charleston. We stayed in the Christopher Suite which is the original kitchen house converted for guests. The suite was huge and comfortable with remnants of the actual brick fireplace (used back in the day by slaves) preserved behind a glass partition which added tremendous ambiance. We hope to come back and visit this lovely B&B again.

Room Tip: The Christopher Suite is outside the main house ~ very quiet and spacious!

“Great Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

I stayed at the Inn in 'March 2007' for seven nights in the St Michael's Room, as a lone traveller I could not have been made more welcome, the staff went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience.. It is a very beautiful house in the ideal situation, although it is a while since I stayed there reading other more recent reviews the Inn still has the same very high standards. Wonderful afternoon tea, great breakfast. I am considering of visiting again next year, and Sallyann e-mailed me within minuets of my enquiry, that's service for you. Charleston is a delightful town the residents are delightful and bend over backwards to help you, so much history too, a must to do, a Ghost walk.

Room Tip: Look at the website, there is a great view of all rooms, I stayed in the St Michael's room at th...

“Charming southern hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

This is a wonderful B & B in a great location to visit all of Charleston. The house has an interesting history and is very beautiful. The staff could not be any more welcoming or helpful. They will arrange tours and restaurant reservations for you. We stayed in the Wagener Room on the first floor, keeping in mind the first floor is up a flight of stairs as are all homes in Charleston. It was a good size, but the bathroom is small with only a glass shower and pedestal sink.. Not a lot of room to put your toiletries. But the house was built in 1760 so we liked the ambiance of the older home. Breakfast is very good, something different each day, and Afternoon Tea was something to look forward to each day, as everything is homemade and delicious. I brought my 84 yr old Mother for a Mother / daughter trip and we had a great time. I recommend this for couples, young or old, and families with older children, or small groups. You'll love it like we did!

Room Tip: Inside rooms will hear noise from the stairs and wooden floors, but we did not find this too distrac...
