Just got back from our tour through the Carolinas and Georgia - a real highlight of our holiday was our visit to Charleston and staying at 4 Unity Alley was the perfect spot from which to explore the historic downtown that is literally on your doorstep. We had a great room that looked out over the courtyard which (as other reviewers have commented) made a perfect spot to sit and unwind with a glass of wine and a book. Both the Inn Keepers Donald and Rick (and Linda! Love Linda!) were helpful and friendly - breakfast always tip top - we would strongly recommend this Inn to anyone on a driving tour as the indoor on site parking was a real bonus. This place is a real gem.

“An elegant Charleston B & B”

We just returned from our honeymoon in Charleston and couldn't have chosen a more beautiful place to stay than 4 Unity Alley Bed and Breakfast located in the French Quarters. If you're looking for a quiet, private, and extremely comfortable Bed and Breakfast within walking distance to some of Charleston's best restaurants and shopping, this is the place to go. One feature that we really appreciated was the ability to park our car in the B & B's secure garage - this is a rarity at most places in Charleston .

The owner/host was gracious and accomodating without being intrusive. The breakfasts that he prepared were comparable to those of a fine restaurant and afterward, he would join the guests for coffee and good conversation. We really enjoyed hearing the details of the extensive renovations that were made to the B & B several years ago.

Our guest room was beautifully decorated, along with the spacious and elegant bathroom. Our room overlooked a very well manicured courtyard, which was the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner each evening.

One very special thing about our stay was that the owner went out of his way to accommodate my husband's special request of having Champagne and white chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us upon arrival. We discovered later that finding white chocolate covered strawberries in Charleston was no easy task, but our host didn't give up until he found them. They were however, absolutely delicious and the perfect touch to a romantic honeymoon.

We would definitely recommend 4 Unity Alley B & B and plan to stay here again on our next visit to Charleston!

“Large, Comfortable Rooms, Great Location”

This is a beautiful bed and breakfast located in the French Quarter of Charleston, SC. The pictures on the website really do not do it justice. There are only four rooms. The room we stayed in was large with a couch, chairs, LCD TV, hardwood floors, and a large bathroom with an over sized jacuzzi tub. The four poster queen size bed was very comfortable and the sheets were incredibly soft.
One of the best features of this B&B is the locked garage to keep your car safe and clean. Parking in Charleston is terrible so this is a great bonus. Breakfast was good, with watermelon pieces, sausage, and walnut waffles. The location is walking distance to the city market and many nice restaurants and bars. The hosts were knowledgeable and hospitable.
We were able to stay for one night for $203 with tax, which was very reasonable compared to nearby B&B's with smaller rooms and extra fees. We would definitely stay here again. After extensive research, I have concluded that this is the most "bang for your buck" in Charleston.

“Southern Hospitality at its best”

A Bed and Breakfast at 4 Unity Alley

Jul 17, 2007

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to Unit Alley. The 1st visit in 2006. Our return was for obvious reasons. The accommodation is superb, bedrooms are large and spacious and provide all a guest could need. Breakfast is delicious. The B & B is beautiful, the host most friendly and extremely helpful. The location is perfect, everything within walking distance. An added extra is the covered secure parking, as parking is at a premium in Charleston this is an added bonus. We would not hesitate to recommend 4 Unity Alley to anyone wishing to visit Charleston.

4 Unity Alley was a wonderful surprise! We spent 3 nights there while
in Charleston and loved every minute. The home is beautiful--very modern. but decorated exquisitely. Breakfast was delicious and bountiful (fruit and main course every day).

Previous posts have mentioned that the staff was somewhat reserved. We found our hostess to be very outgoing and informative simply exuding with southern hospitality.

There are 4 rooms; we occupied a jr suite with a queen bed with separate living room area. The bathroom was huge--there were two pieces of furniture, a standing shelf as well as a small table- along with a jacuzzi tub!

The bed was a bit firm, but wonderful for my taste. Next door there was a mirrored room, except for the day bed in the sitting area. Everything was quality right down to the LCD TVs. A third room in the main house was somewhat smaller, but did have a king bed.
Lastly, the suite complete with king bed, fireplace( don't know if it works) and living room was to die for. (I loved my room until I saw this one!). All in all, each room was lovely.

Specific pluses: while on a quiet street (next door to McCrady's restaurant), all the very best restaurants are within walking distance. e.g. Magnolias, High Cotton, SNOB etc. There is on site parking (our deal maker), it is a bit of a squeeze, although there was a Ford 350 pick up in the garage and there wasn't a scratch on it. We had no problems manuevering our Saturn

One odd thing, there were no bathroom amenites other than two very small slivers of soap. Since I had left my shampoo home, I was a bit disappointed in this.

All in all it was a wonderful experience, but alas, the B & B is for sale, so hopefully, the service and ambiance won't change if and when the property is sold.

I would recommend this B & B very highly and would stay here again when we return to Charleston..
