“Wonderful Bed & Breakfast more like Home away from Home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2011

Indigo Inn, and Jasmine House, and Carriage House, are all run very efficiently by Manager Ignatius Nazareth. From my first phone call last year, to my search again this year for a Thanksgiving stay in Charleston, I was so very pleased with Ignatius's patient manner.
We booked a long stay for the #3 Carraige House, first floor- courtyard.
The room opened up to a large and beautiful shared courtyard where we ate breakfast and had coffee and read our daily paper every morning! I often took advantage of the nightly cheese and wine offered and even had hot tea if I wanted to go up to the kitchen of the Jasmine House and get it. It was only a few steps to the back door for breakfast or tea or coffee or wine in the evening. You access it with a key, and can take a tray back with you!
What wonderful days and nights we had!
The Inn is across the small street and parking lot of the Indigo Inn. Both Inns are right downtown in the historic district. All you have to do is walk out your door, and walk to anything in the Historic District that interests you, from great food and shopping, to beautiful and historic architecture and gardens behind every gate!
Thank you again Ignatius Nazareth! , and everyone of your friendly employees.
The rooms are well cared for and clean. The bathroom was big enough and even had an area just beyond where we could get into a large closet. The large bed was comfortable. There was a couch and chair,as well as another sink by a window. There were thoughtfully placed magazines about the city for those not familiar with Charleston. Important for us as smokers, we greatly appreciated being able to smoke outside in the courtyard...a big plus in non-smoking Charleston! There were several guests coming and going in the main house and in the 8 Carriage rooms, but we hardly knew it. We met a few, but everyone is so busy doing their own thing it was very comfortable and quiet.
I definitely highly recommend a stay and that you check www.bedandbreakfast.com for the Jasmine House Inn and the Carriage rooms. You can also find the Main Hotel, The Indigo Inn at this site. There you will see all the great rooms and pictures of the courtyard as well. I believe they also have their own website too look at for info. It is great to be able to park your car in their private lot, especially in Charleston where the fees at other hotels are much higher.

Hubby and I went to Charleston for a quick side trip with some friends. We booked the Jasime House Inn and we so plesantly surprised. The Inn is outstanding, a great value, and in a great location. I would stay here again and again!

We found Jasmine House Inn just as we drove through Charleston on our honeymooon where we decided to stop for the night during a road trip from Washington to Miami. It provided a wonderful price with breakfast included as well as access to the kitchen for refreshments at any time - simply great value for money. More impressing was the house built in 1863, high ceilings, huge rooms, great canpoy beds, fireplaces, a wonderful patio surrounding the front with rocking chairs - I felt like I was in an old movie. Just divine! The staff were welcoming and friendly and offered great advice about where to eat out and get a taste of the south. There is no shortage of great places to eat and cool bars to have a drink in ... if only we had more time I'm sure we would have explored even more. It's a place we'll go back to with out a doubt!

As most have said the location of this Inn is great. Otherwise, it is not worth the $200+ per night they charge. The complimentary breakfast was not very good and included mediocre pastries, some fruit, gross bagels, cereal, and some odd ham and biscuits. Definitely not a "bed and breakfast" type breakfast. I won't even go into the complimentary "wine and cheese."

The room was adequate but a bit sub-par with no hair dryer and an old little television. This place is by no means a terrible place nor is it dirty. It's just not what one comes to expect from $200+ per night accommodations.

We stayed in the Carriage House, two rooms, traveling with another couple. We all enjoyed the trip very much, we were upstairs, they were downstairs, one unit over. Service was good, check in went smoothly, there was a slight mistake on our bill at checkout, which was corrected immediately. We thought the rooms were fine, we did notice that the rooms in the main house were bigger, higher ceilings, but our carriage house was very nice as well. Would certainly come again. Great restaurants in walking distance.

We chose this hotel as the most affordable yet not chain hotels in the historic district. Although the immediate surrounding location is a bit industrial, within one block you are in the heart of the north end of downtown Charleston. Convenient parking, friendly staff. We booked an upstairs room in the Carriage House, but upon arrival, we were shown to a downstairs room. You MUST be a heavy sleeper to sleep well in a downstairs room. At the time the staff was unable to accommodate a room change, but after speaking with the manager a very professional response was made to this mix-up, so we would try them again. Also, not that we cared a great deal, but their selection of breakfast foods was not to our liking (non-fat/low-cal yogurt, generic teas, etc.) - the selection of a few more whole food items would be welcome. Oh, and the courtyard is really lovely for an afternoon read with a glass of wine. Overall: imperfect due to booking misunderstanding, but I would still recommend it.
