We went with a woman guide and a great horse, Amos. Amos is amazingly adept at pulling the carriage thru tight spots and placing it precisely at the end of the tour. The horses seemed very well cared for.
Since all rides are an hour, private or public, and since there were just 2 of us, we opted for the group. 4 adults across/was not cramped for us. We were in the front row, with the driver standing in front of us, so if you want photographs it is not clear that is the best spot. Ask if you care about taking pictures.
We had route 3, which was fine. The guide knew a lot about the buildings and we had already seen the waterfront areas the day before. I would go again and hope for a different route for variety.
One caveat..you buy a ticket at a carriasge, thernare told to gonto the stable...that should be clarified before paying. We had to wait 20 minutes, not a problem for us but could be if you expect to be done in an hour. We looked at the horses while waiting.
