“Lavish and beautiful... a terrific stay.. they accept dogs too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2009

We wanted to visit Charleston.. and bring our dog. Well, the reviews of tripadvisor are true. The property is a (Victorian) mansion which is a beautifully decorated B&B with excellent service.
The rooms are actually gorgeous suites with fireplaces !

Paid: $320 with taxes for a very spacious suite - with all the amenicities , jacuzzi (see pics)

Very friendly reception; with a very willing concierge service.
Enjoyed walking into the warmly lit room + romantic music already playing...and chilled champagne

Breakfast is at "Circa 1886" - salmon, cheeses, home-made waffle, fresh biscuits.

The historic section is a 10 minute walk and is considered safe. The city is a cultural gem and dog friendly. We love the mansion, and so does our dog !!

A lovely experience on every level. A very attentive staff went out of the way to help us more than once. Extremely comfortable bedding in an incredible suite with fantastic marble bath. This was one of the better experiences I've ever had with an Inn. We will be back.

  • Liked — Staff and historical element.
  • Disliked — The fact that I had to leave.

My wife and I spent 3 days at the Wentworth Mansion for my birthday. Every detail of our stay exceeded my expectation.
Here is a list of some of the things we liked most:
- Great location - only a couple blocks from the main down town area. We were able to ride our bikes just about every where from the mansion.
- Amazing staff who provided wonderful service. They were friendly, engaging, and had many wonderful tips about the area. Often they would give me their card and phone number in case we needed help while in the city. They would help plan a day trip for us based on the types of places we wanted to see and food we liked to eat.
- Spa and Circa restaurant are on site - both very nice and add another element to the stay.
- Wonderful breakfast each morning - included w/ the stay. Friendly waiter who took care of us each morning.
- 5pm complimentary nightly food and wine - nice time to relax and sample some of the appetizers from Circa.
- We loved going to the top of the mansion which had a spiral stair case and circular overlook area of the surrounding city.
- The housekeeping staff left chocolates on your pillows at night and they would turn on soft music.
- Complimentary soft drinks and water in your "in room" mini refrigerator.
- The mansion was very old and historic looking but very well maintained. No signs of problems in the building and it was obvious it was maintained well.

Overall this was one of our favorite trips. Charleston is beautiful and the Wentworth Mansion was the perfect place to call home in this amazing city.

This was one of my favorite hotel experiences ever. The room was perfect in elegant old southern charm, yet absolutely updated for modern luxury. Service struck just the right note between friendly and formal. For the price of $299 per night this was a top notch luxury experience. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. It is a little out of the center of town, but we did not have any problem walking either day or night. The trade off was a comfortable secluded refuge. I would definitely return if I have the chance.

What a fantastic experience! First of all, staying in something so historic feels incredible and I have been forever spoiled. I felt as if I was staying in someone's beautiful, grand home and they were catering to my every wish. The staff at the Wentworth is fantastic. Every one of them was friendly and courteous. It was well worth the money as so many things other properties would charge extra for were included in the nightly rate. My only problem was that I wanted to see more of Charleston and the Wentworth was so awesome and ROMANTIC that I wanted to stay in the room with my hubby the whole time!! ;)

We just got back from a wonderful weekend and stay at the Wentworth Mansion. This place was exceptional. We have stayed at other 'Fine' Charleston hotels and this by far exceeds everyone of them.. The staff is so helpful, they helped us decide on a house to tour, & where to eat for dinner one nite. The room was georgous, w/ tall ceillings, fireplace, jacuzzi in the bath. After dinner each nite you are welcomed to your room w/ romantic music playing. What a nice getaway!!

My girlfriend was in Charleston the week prior to our stay. She has a taste for the "finer" things in life, WOW, did She find it here! Could not have picked a better place in the heart of Charleston who's staff has a heart as big as the masion itself.
First step into this flagship landmark, embraces you and doesn't want to let go. Yes.... we were there for a romantic trip so that just added to our delight. Our room had the perfect blend of old and new. Class from times past far surpassing anything today's modern offerings can provide. They were way ahead of themselves back then, and the Wentworth Mansion has brought this all to our attention.
This mansion houses a five star wait staff second to none. EVERY little detail was attended to, every question was answered, with a smile........could not have been better!
We will be back!
