We've typically stay at Charleston Place and this is our first time at Vendue. Stayed for 2 nights for bridge run in March. This is the best hotel. Service is absolutely impeccable. Better than the Four Seasons I was at in April. Every detail is cared for. The rooms are luxurious and memorable. The staff - check-in, bar, valet - are all seasoned professionals. They take care of you and provide every amenity in a fabulously chic environment. Love this place.

Room Tip: We were on the side across the street from the lobby and on the third floor - only room on the third...

The perfect location to experience historic Charleston. The staff was extremely accommodating and their recommendations were spot on! After eating in several Charleston restaurants (all of which were very good) I must say that the hotel restaurant was over the top! The salads were creative and delicious and the desserts were one of a kind- we loved the ambience and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful stay at the Vendue Hotel in the French Quarter in Charleston SC. This hotel is just luxurious and the staff made us feel as though we were family. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. This is a boutique hotel with a great art display. the furnishings are lovely and the chandeliers are just exquisite. Our room had a small balcony and we could see the waterfront down the street. Our room was elegantly appointed with some lovely antiques. The wine and art viewing daily was fun, the complementary coffee at the Starbucks in the hotel was a very nice touch.
The hotel is very well located- close to the waterfront-to get a water taxi, in the middle of most of the best cuisine in Charleston, the free trolley is one small block away and the it is close to most of the major attractions.
Our experience was wonderful and we will definitely return and stay there again.

Room Tip: we stayed at 19 vendue- these rooms all have windows and are in the main hotel....

We stayed at the Vendue for 3 nights in late February. I was a little apprehensive because of some negative reviews about #26, the non-refurbished building where we stayed.

My apprehension was misplaced. We had a superb experience and the hotel is memorable in a good way, quite different from other hotels. While not sleek, the room had character akin to a historic European hotel, with high ceilings, nice furniture, and wood floors and rugs, including in the bathroom, and was not shabby at all. But there were modern features such as an excellent glass stall shower. The bed was very comfortable with clean, fresh sheets and pillows.

It was charming to be surrounded by art and the studio of the artist in residence down the hall from our room on the first floor. The afternoon reception in the gallery had tasty canapes and wine.

There were always pitchers of chilled cucumber or fruit flavored water in the lobbies of both building 19 and 26. Free Starbucks coffee in the coffee shop off the lobby.

We don't usually eat meals in hotels, but were given a $50 voucher so we ate a couple breakfasts in the dining room. They were fantastic, including the best prepared grits (Geechie Boy brand) we had during our 8 days in the South.

Everyone working at the hotel with whom we came into contact could not have been nicer. The hotel consists of 2 buildings - #19 with the main lobby, bar, restaurant and coffee shop, and #26 across the street where the afternoon reception is held. However, there is someone at the desk in #19 at all times of day.

Great location, about a 10 minute walk to King Street and closer to other desirable places. Although the weather precluded our enjoyment of the outdoors, the hotel is a block from the water and a nice park.

Uber friendly and personable staff. Hotel is locate a short block from the water and immediately adjacent to Charlston's hottests restaurants on Bay St. Loved the artwork in the hallways. Great decor and a lively bar to boot.

Room Tip: Ask for the East Bay view with the walk-up bathrooms

We recently stayed at the renovated hotel. The common areas are fresh and lovely; really pretty.
The staff is helpful and accommodating. Everyone seemed to love their jobs and take great pride in their hotel and the city; what an absolute treat.

The location for us is perfect. Close to everything we love to do and see. You pick your coffee up at the coffee shop. It was fabulous and there was never a long line or wait.

We stayed for our anniversary and even the bell man congratulated us. They surprised us with a lovely bottle of champagne; very thoughtful. All in all, we found the staff really in sync with the guests.

The hotel has expanded to acquire at least one additional property. Our room was in that new property, 26 Vendue. The art gallery is located there. The gallery is beautiful.

We booked about 1 month in advance and knew we were limited to an interior room. I had read the other reviews that suggested to avoid them, but we decided to take a chance. The room itself was not what I had hoped for, but the common areas, wonderful touches in other areas and impeccable service made the stay positive and memorable. The decor and bathroom of our room was dated. The section of 26 Vendue we stayed in had big wood beams, beige paint and our room and the exterior carpet had Mauve accents. I do think the website actually shows some of the differences in the room types and properties. I think your room is assigned when booked. I will be more specific next time and make sure my room has been renovated. I did not ask that question at booking. I had stayed across the street from the main building previously and loved the accents, furnishings and updated bathroom. So there are variances.

All in all, our visit was spectacular. Thank you to the Vendue. They represent and complement the city very well.

The Vendue is an upscale boutique hotel that has some staffing issues and rooms need a few more conveniences.
We waited 20 min for drinks at the roof top bar. Our appetizer was served w/o silverware and it was a 10 min wait for that.
During our stay our room 302 was $400 to $599 yet there was no in room safe, minibar or movies on demand.
We will return to Charleston but the Vendue will have to improve before we return.
