My wife and I went there for our wedding anniversary during restaurant week. Usually, restaurants put their best foot forward during restaurant week but this was not the case at Muse. First, we were crammed in a very tiny two person table in the dead middle of a room. There was no space for our table and it had no business being in the center of a already small room. I was literally afraid or either elbowing the tables on either side of me or being jacked in the head by the wait staff. Next, the bottle of wine we ordered was stated on the menu as a 2009 and arrived as a 2011. No explanation offered and same inflated price charged. We ordered the cheese plate first. The cheese was excellent but the presentation was akin to simply throwing the items on the plate with a paltry offering of fruit and an overabundance of mixed nuts. The soup and salad was definitely the best part of the meal with a quasi-Cesar salad and a mushroom soup. The entrees were the biggest disappointment we have ever had while dining in Charleston. The braised pork shoulder tasted like it came out of a can and the "homemade" pasta accompaniment was bland and poorly textured. My wife's "seafood stew" was nothing of the sort with some previously frozen shrimp in a bowl with a few mussels, a scallop, some breadcrumbs and no broth. Finally, the desert was split down the middle, The creme fraiche cake I had was far too dense and completely bland but the chocolate mouse with candied orange peels was delicious. The server was nice and attentive once his other tables left. Overall, I would NOT go back. We have already planned on having a do-over anniversary at a real restaurant.
