“Walk through history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

It is worth taking the time to visit this church, whether for a contemplative stroll in its lovely and history-laden cemetery or to listen to its unique bells tolling the hours. Somewhat surprising are the street-level windows, which allow the passerby to view the lovely interior.

“Beautiful church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We loved that the church was open and we were able to do our own self guided tour. Gorgeous stained glass windows. We had some information from AAA on the history of the church and it was helpful before going to the church.

“gorgeous church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

The church is so beautiiful and has such history behind it. We saw the special "box seat" where George Washington sat when he visited Charleston. And the cemetary is very interesting and has some very important people buried in it. It is a beautiful piece of Charleston history.

“Historical church and positive worship experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We are new Charleston residents. One recent Sunday we decided to visit the 10:30 am church service at St. Michael's to get a peek inside and explore its historical past. After one visit, we found a jewel of church with a mind toward Christ and kind, friendly parishioners and priests. We have been regular attendees ever since! Visitors are offered a short tour of the building and graveyard after the 1030 service. Bells are rung by hand just before service. It is a beautiful and reflective time. The preaching is well done with relevant topics rooted to the scriptures. Even if you are only in town for a short while, it is worth the time to come and visit a St Michael's church service. But if that is not possible, St Michael's is is usually open to visitors during the day. So come sit in the old box pews and reflectively take in the beauty of the carved wood and stained glass. Then stroll through the historic graveyard and through the intricate iron gates. You will not be disappointed.

“Lovely historical church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We spent a few minutes exploring the interior of this beautiful church on Meeting St. Pew # 43 was supposedly where both George Washington & Robert E Lee worshipped during their Charleston visits. Worth a peek as well as a stroll through the graveyard.
