“Beautiful grounds and great guides”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

We toured the gardens and the house. Both were worth the time and money. They gardens are beautiful and the tram tour gives you a great look at the variety that is on the plantation. The house tour took you to each floor and is filled with furniture and photographs for the single family that still owns the property.

“Pretty place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We just strolled the grounds here - did not go into the house. Pretty gardens. When we were there the Camellia were blooming which was a treat. We also toured the slave quarters. I recommend that tour - you definitely get an appreciation for what they endured.

“A wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

My wife and I (73/74y) spent a day in the plantation at the end of November, visiting the slave cabins, strolling the senders with hundred of winter camelias of different colors and shapes. Most interesting was the explanation of the slave cabins which was done by a very experienced guide. Train ride was confortable and the visit of the Mansion was the hightlight of our day. Thank you for keeping this exceptional garden as it was a couple of hundred years ago.

“Interesting and educational”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

It was an interesting and educational tour, but several of the staff seemed less than thrilled to be doing their tours. Overall ok. Beautiful grounds with excellent history behind it, slave quarter tours stays with you for sure.

“Get a historic taste of Charles Towne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

You would not believe the beauty, and historic landscape/architecture of this place. Located on the outskirts of Charleston, along the Ashley River. Be prepared for a drive and possible backed up local traffic to get there. Check them out for tours. Highly recommend.
