This museum lays claim to being the oldest in country, it is full of collections and very informative and interesting. It's not very big, and some of the items seem a bit odd to me put together, it's like a museum for a bit of everything, primarily the rise of Charleston, the Slave trade and war of Independence. Then there is a section of stuffed birds, a section of random old items, a section devoted to old flags and another section that touches on Egypt. I liked the randomness of some of the areas. There is an area where kids can dress up in confederate costumes too.
The entrance is very reasonable when purchased as a triple entrance fee to other local places of interest. There is a small gift shop area and I'd advise to go early it's fairly small.
